| Re: VRs vs?? I used to have one of those ! It had a AMD chip fitted to it, at the time in 1993 it was hell of a quick car, faster than a fast thing. havn't had the pleasure in the vRS, head to head though, the first corner is where you find the brakes on the G40 don't work and the furby goes round the thing. |

| Briskodian | Re: VRs vs?? I don't think mk2 mr2's are fast at all (in a stragith line). may mate has one and it didn't feel at all fast. My VRS felt faster, but maybe thats the shov in the back for you ? I've seen these g40 things, what engine do they have? outputs? they look pretty standard but maybe I've only seen ch4v ones with the badge stuck on and a 1.0 under the bonnet.

| Briskodian | Re: VRs vs?? G40 is a 1.3ltr super charged they produce 115bhp and 113lbf. Doesnt sound much but at the time they set the world record for 24 hours top speed runs averaging 135mph - std cars. This is also a very lightweight car, this destroyed the RS1800, XR2i, RS Turbo, GTI 16V and would very nearly beat the R5 GT Turbo - this is praise indeed. |

| Re: VRs vs?? Mine was 142bhp after the chip. No weight and big power sure was fun. Pre speed scamera days, I did the A66 from one end to the other at 120mph, up against a fella in a big Merc, it took till traffic holdups at Doncaster before he got past me on the inside on the A1. Build quality was crap, almost as bad as the brakes !!! |

| Re: VRs vs?? It must be the 'shove' in the back then. I can assure you, a MK2 MR2 Is quicker than the car you're driving. On the corners, on a straight etc. |

| Re: VRs vs?? My mate has just sold his recently. Had a load of stuff done on it by Jabba. Cant list everything but flowed head plus new pistons. Chargecooler and a smaller pully for the charger. it was putting out 195bhp at dubsports rollers so say in reality about 175 to 180bhp. it was fast as fu*k but an absolute pig to drive on a wet (or damp) road and was a bit scary on a dry road. All the brakes and suspension had been uprated but it was still a bit shy on the bends :0

![]() You'd think he'd know better really, wouldn't you? Anyway, Criminal Damage with Intent charges will be brought, and if you see an Mercedes AMG E55 (new shape) reg 900 CFJ, keep well away. He's an idiot who won't think twice about trying to start a ruck in the rush hour, on a busy roundabout, with plenty of witnesses and security cameras.

| Re: VRs vs?? On the topic of Supercharged VW's - do they do a kit for the VR6 engines? I had a play with one (obviously he won) but what surprised me was the rate he took off and the noise it made - defo not naturally aspirated. |

| Briskodian | Re: VRs vs?? I had a vortech vs2q charger to go on my golf vr6, never got around to fitting it tho as the car was quick enough and was offered a very good price for it. ![]() I miss my golf already ![]() Anyways it's about £2400 for an off the shelf ready to fit charger, or you can piece bit's together from the states for about £1300, which will give you up to 250-270bhp on standard internals using a 6-8 psi pulley, 12psi pulley upwards an intercooler and forged low comp pistons would be an idea, higher flow injectors are also needed..... But once that's done you may as well go 14-16psi for around 350bhp...after that it's turbo time with 500-600bhp+ 'quite easily' achievable |

Really?? Yikes. That would be one hell of a Q-car (as long as it didn't blow up / shred tyres / laminate you to the seat when trying to use the power) ![]()

| Re: VRs vs?? Tried to play with a old looking mk2 golf a few months ago, when it blew me away, and we could still hear it from the end of the road, worked out that it had a VR6 lump. I was 4 up, with a bigger car that was my excuse. Desperately needing the money for a remap. |

| Re: VRs vs?? I had a play with an old Mk2 yesterday! Looked pretty smart (aside from the clear rear light clusters) and had been lowered, tasteful spoilers, bigger wheels and a bigger exhaust. Next thing I know, we reach a clear stretch of dual carriageway and I hear the thing being opened up but the speed is only creeping up at a pedestrian rate. I guess it was a small-engined look-a-like then! ![]() Chris
