Vrs windows

I have a 56 plate Fabia vRS:

A couple of weeks ago I had my drivers window smashed by some idiots. I got a replacement fitted by Autoglass. The only difference I've noticed with the new windows and my exisiting ones is that the new one doesn't repel water like the others. I'm not too sure whether that's down to the window coating or using a third-party product such as rainex. Does anyone have any ideas? It's is very useful having windows which disperse rain/water when driving.

Re: Vrs windows

You'll probably find over time, through washing/cleaning, the new windscreen will build up
a coating from cleaner/coditioner you use to clean your car. I work in the glass industry and its surprising how stubbornly it retains oily/waxy substances in the form of a very thin
coating, which in the context of a windscreen is a good thing, for repelling rain or spray etc.. how much new screen out of interest?

Re: Vrs windows

Thanks for the reply!

As for the cost of the new window, I didn't get a price as the replacement was carried out through Autoglass through my insurance. I just paid the excess of £60 to the replacement and fitted.
