Lightbulb Want to know, once and for all...

In the last couple of weeks, people have been talking about different suspension setup's, but its all getting abit confusing with different threads...
any chance each member with non-standard suspension could list what they have got, how low, what wheels, and most improtantly, good and bad points.
Please, no slagging other peoples suspension setups off.

Re: Want to know, once and for all...

I have,

Cupra console bushes which make the front end really planted and less wobbley.
downside to these is more noise and vibration through the steering, but hopefully they will settle down after a few thousand miles.

Jabba Rear Anti roll bar, by far the best suspension mod, get this first and you wont want anythig else. really does stop boddy roll, downside is no asthetic improvement and can catch you out if your not concentrating.

I have had lowering springs, they were weitec ones and i took them off cos the ride was aweful.

EDIT: i have standard 16" vrs wheels and toyo t1-r tyres

Me=Eibach springs and dampers, Jabba rear ARB.

Eibach springs on their own are worthy in that they'll reduce pitching and body roll.
However, add the Eibach dampers and it behaves better. The Koni FSDs are apparently another step up improvement. Decent coilovers should be able to do an even better job.

For me, the springs are worthwhile as they stop the awful pitching and braking down-hill sensation (which actually makes you feel like you're stopping more quickly when you're not). The Jabba ARB - Nuff said, for me, it completes the package.

I may yet get the SEAT Cupra bushes as the steering could be a little more direct and feelsome.

Re: Want to know, once and for all...

Fk coilovers slammed at the front dont really know how low it is TBH but I cant get my fingers between the tyres and the arches. ride is alot stiffer but its handling is alot better!

17" Matrix alloys on 205/40 falken tyres offset unknown (on the car when I got it)

would like to get rear arb and front and back strut braces, handling should be spot on after it

Re: Want to know, once and for all...

KW coil-overs, Seat front strut-brace, Jabbasport rear ARB, 17 x 7.5J Audi TT Competition alloys, Infinity 205 40 17 rubber all round, front bushes changed for Seat.

Pro: Corners like its on rails
Con: on bad roads a steam-roller would probably have softer suspension, passengers complain of cabin noise and vibration, drivers don't listen.

Re: Want to know, once and for all...

At the moment I have Porsche 8J x 18" alloys. Et52 and hub adapters spaced 25mm front and 30mm rear. Running on 215/35/18 tyres.

I have Weitec coilovers with rebound damping adjustability. It is as low as it can go at the back suspension wise I would recon about 40 to 50mm at front. The ride on the Weitec's is very good IMO and currently set full stiff in rebound. Unless you are on really bad roads the ride doesn't bother me personally. As people have said, its a worthy sacrifice.

Had a Fiesta before this on AVO bump and rebound adjustable coilovers and it used to crash over bumps etc.

Standard bushes all round until I can afford some Poly ones etc.

Jabba rear anti-roll bar.

Hope this helps.

Jabba rear arb, Eibach springs and standard shocks, 17" wheels with205/40/17 tyres.
Car handles much better than standard, and feels much more planted.
the ride is a little harsher, but not overtly so.
Any stiffer and my dodgy back would complain.
HTH.
