I might just be lucky, but if I drive my car like i've stolen it, say for a sustained 100 miles, mixture of motorway, fast a, and b roads, I still haven't noticed any power loss. I did notice last night though, whilst on a track your honour, that when I backed off from a speed only attainable at 4000 rpm + in sixth gear, what appeared to be sparks were coming from the back of the car. Would this be soot being ignited by a hot exhaust?

As i tell everyone, I have my own private airstrip, please remember there is more rolling friction, its a grass strip. But not long enough to try 6th gear.

Ah remember now - think you even posted a pic of it. My father-in-law used to work on an airport (well, his office was there). Never got round to testing the Furby there unfortunately

I'm guessing the grass would severely restrict what's safe too, you wouldnt wanna loose it at higher speeds

Hmm odd. Posted, got two posts. One was removed. Edited the SECOND post as a duplicate, now it's back.

@Shifty - Soot shouldnt catch fire or spark, dunno what that would be. It's not lowered so much the exhaust is scraping

Duplicate post - thought it couldnt be done

Not lowered at all mate, it's had a remap though and with the heat and all that, the back of the car is black every time I go anywhere. Ill put a new thread up and see if anybody knows what it is.

Perhaps it would be possible to fiit the intercooler from a 2.0 TDi engine.
The setup on my Elegance Estate is just like this, ie the intercooler much the same size as the rad and fitted in front of it.
When I get some time Ill measure it up and see if it would fit on the better halfs Fabia VRs.

Must admit I changed the standard intake for a PD160 one pretty early on, think about 3-4k after I got it (cant be bothered to check ). Green filter was done a bit later when the GB came along.

It pulls better higher up the rev-range, and although I'm not 100% sure (not compared it) I have a feeling it helped the smoking also. It didnt smoke all that much anyway unless hot outside. So today would be a good one to test as it's gonna be a scorcher.

As for the wheel arch vent thing - dunno if I'll bother considering a FMIC will be put on asap

Easy solution is to remove the front foglamp cover. This occludes the intercooler and so has a major effect in warmer weather.

Just give the cover a good pull, it will come off and pop it in your boot until the weather becomes cooler.

Only takes a second.
