Water ingress and rear washer problems

I’ve recently discovered that the rear foot well on the passenger side of my 04 Fabia VRS is damp, pushing a thumb into the carpet shows moisture there. Any idea how it got there and what can be done about it? I haven’t spilt anything so it must be ingress.

The washer jet on the rear window is also a bit lacklustre these days, it used to be a nice strong spray and now it’s an intermittent feeble dribble that only reaches half way up the window. Again any ideas what could be wrong (front washers are fine), could the two issues be related?

Re: Water ingress and rear washer problems

Water ingress is a common problem in the Fabia and iirc, is due to the door seals not being sealed! Worth taking it back to your dealer to get this sorted and make sure they take out the carpets and dry them thoroughly too.

A couple of things to check for the rear washer are that the hose is correctly connected at each end (under the bonnet and into the washer nozzle) and that the nozzle isn't partially blocked. Failing that, mention it to your dealer when you get them to fix the door seals

Mine was a bit spurty yesterday to start with as the nozzle was frozen. Once it thawed and I could get the washer fluid through it (with all its antifreeze), it was back to normal, but pointing at about 11 o'clock instead of straight up!

That'll be me getting a pin out to straighten the nozzle, then!!!

Re: Water ingress and rear washer problems

Are you saying the two problems are related? Where exactly is this connection?

Re: Water ingress and rear washer problems

I watched from a distance. The mechanic tilted the passenger seat forward and removed the carpet trim over the wheel arch. Beyond that I'm not sure.
