Water problems!

Has anyone experienced a problem with their Fabia VRS, using / losing excessive amounts of water. My 54 plate Fabia VRS, uses between 05 to 1 litre of water every 1-2 days. The dealer has had it in and cannot find a problem when they have pressure tested it.

The expansion tank cap has been replaced as well.

I'm worried it may be something serious with the engine (i.e. Head Gasket)

HELP!!!

Thanks

Tim.

Re: Water problems!

Could be a split hose or radiator leak.

Someone will be along soon with an answer.

I would think it would be a small leak somewhere..... I only topped my coolent up once in 80k...... so every 1-2 days seems excessive.... take it back to the dealer, and state, its loosing water that much, there MUST be a problem, and they should find it.....

Re: Water problems!

I used to have a fabia 1,9 sdi, with the same prob..2 1/2 years old..took it to the dealers and they discovered it was a fault with the radiator..fixed it under warranty..they could easily have said it was a stone chip etc, so well done to them :-))

Had that problem, and was fixed by dealer under warrenty. Its a common problem and I believe its the thermostat or temp sensor leaks and requires a new gasket. Its not that big a job so dont worry too much

I would be worried about my dealers ability if they couldnt find a leak when it is losing up to a litre in 2 days

Re: Water problems!

Thanks, for the replies, the car was in for service Thurs and has done about 220miles since that evening. Had to top it up this morning as there was 1/4 inch of water left in the expansion bottle!!

The dealer put some UV dye in the coolant system, as they can't find the problem, so in goes that car again to see if they can trace the leak!! More news tommorow hopefully.

Re: Water problems!

Dealer has booked it in for a Head gasket. Not looking forward to having it done, but if it cures the problem.......

Has anyone else had a head gasket changed????
