Re: weight

I don't really know the spec of the 1.9TDI Comfort. 80Kg isn't that much... but I'd say bigger brakes and wheels would contribute to a lot of it! Badges, spoiler, green caliper paint, sports seats...

Re: weight

80kg makes a noticable difference, but the extra power of the vRS makes up for it.

Re: weight

Is the ASZ core engine a bit "chunkier" internally than the ATD engine as well? I know the ARL engine I had recently weighed a lot, and that was without turbo or box.

PD130 turbo a bit chunkier perhaps too? But as Ross says, the box weighs a lot more (I've had to lug both around a bit recently - the 5 speed is a doddle in comparison )

The ASZ and ARL are the same engine internally.

Yup, if you put a 80KG weight in the car you'd soon know about it

Re: weight

Now you know why I ditched 80kg of ICE out the back of my car after the conversion. That was just to offset the extra weight up front.

80kg equates to almost 18 gallons of frozen water, if that helps

FWIW just thought I'd mention that such an extra level of weight is worth considering in terms of handling. I find equalised distribution is good, so normally carry extra passengers horizontally on the roof

Re: weight

My brother has removed the rear seats on his 172 and it makes the rear end wild.

Re: weight

I had three decent amplifiers, solid false floor, and a pair of JL 12" subwoofers, and all the wiring. It really was adding a lot of boot weight (80kg maybe an overestimate, but 70kg is easily accurate)
