Lightbulb Wet rear passenger floor update

Well after finding a wet rear carpet 6 months ago I hope now the problem has been sorted.

So far the car has has a new door seal - Sparshatts, Fareham.

The rear ancillary door carrier was modded by falmouth skoda - who ended up not really finding a problem, but managed to trash the front passenger door trim when the stripped that door down just in case - I'll never use them again.

(They over charged me for the service, didn't fix the fault, trashed the front door trim, didn't reset the service indicator when they serviced it, and checking the computer managed 7 mpg over an 11 mile test drive)

Finally took it back to where i got it at Mid Cornwall Cars in Roche, who replaced the front door trim and hopefully found the real cause...

There is a connection in the rear wash pipe that is located under the trim in front of the rear arch. This connection has seperated, just enough to spray water out of it, but still provide pressure to the rear jet.

When it sprayed the water ran down the front of the rear arch, under the trim into the rear left footwell.

Hopefully it is now sorted - but now i know there is another coupling in the rear washer line.

For those of you still suffering from a wet floor after the ancillary carriers have been modded, it might be worth checking this union out.

I'll give an update in a few weeks, once it has been proved this was the problem (fingers crossed)

Thanks for the feedback. Interesting that there was a significant leak with the rear washer otherwise working normally.

Interesting, we have a similar problem in one of the rear footwells of our golf (offside) I wonder whether it's the same thing.....

Re: Wet rear passenger floor update

I've come across this problem on Seat leons as well.

What happens is that the rear 'squidgey' door rubbers let in water, and when the door bottoms get dirty, the drain holes get clogged, filling the door with water.
Eventually it 'spills' into the car. As the rear door trims usually have plastic bottoms, its not always clear to see were the water comes from.

There's a kind of draft seal on the lower part of the door, that runs very close to the drain holes, so its very easy for them to get blocked.
Some people go as far as to drill new drain holes in the door, but keeping then clear should do the job.

Hope this helps you.

i have wet getting into the rear footwell on the passenger side of a vrs fabia. i think its coming in from the door panel on the inside of the door seal. the only drain holes i can find are right on the very bottom edge of the doorwell below the door panel level and they are not blocked.

can anyone help?

Is there water coming out your rear wiper? On my cousins Polo a connector had popped off along the seat somewhere, bascially soaking the floor everytime it was activated.

rear wash works fine. it has popped off twice before though, in the engine bay and right at the pump. poor design really.

pretty sure its coming in from the door panel.
have read that there is can be problems with a door membrane!?? can anyone advise how to get the inner panel off the rear door??

either cheap-o nasty standard factory fit foam door seals that perish over time or the pollen filter housing hasnt been installed correctly.

It's a fairly common issue. There's an illustrated guide on VRStu's site, Fabia-vrs.com - Home Page

Re: Wet rear passenger floor update

Thanks for the advise.

I brought it to the dealer... im always very reserved to go to them.

They told me it would be a half hour of work to sort it out, so i left it with them. They called me at lunch to say i should get all 4 doors done at a cost of Ł200!! I declined given only one door was leaking. So i go back to collect it in the eve, it cost half an hour labout plus Ł38 for sealant!!! Right rip-off. I didnt expect to get it free, but Ł38 is not a fair price for a bit of sealer. Got one of the lads to explain how the door liner is removed so i can fix any future leaks myself.

Get up next day and turn hose on the car... still leaking!! So im extremely angry at this point... set about taking the liner off, to find it cracked from when the dealer had removed it and that they had applied sealer with about as much care and skill as a monkey. There were three places where the bead of sealer wasnt touching the door. So i rip about Ł19 worth of sealer off the area where it was leaking and used bathroom sealer. Which worked just fine.

I hate dealers, they never fail to disappoint me. Sorry to any of you that work in one, but service like that is very annoying.

rant over.

If you want a sealer that will never leak/crack/effect paint use this
