What to do with £250

Well I've just had a phone call to say I've won £250 in a competition I entered a few weeks back.

I've had my VRs since October last year and I've not touched it yet, apart from it being chipped when I bought it of course. So I'm open to £250 modification suggestions.

I'm tempted by the eibach springs, but as I aim to own the car for a good few years I wonder if I should do the whole suspension not just the springs.

Can anybody recommend somewhere in the North East of England, personal recommendations are the best I find, at least I'll know some inexperienced johnson isn't messing with my car.

Jabba ARB - thirded. Change for Cupra air intake, and a green filter.

there ya go, and should come in just a fraction over your £250 if having the arb fitted, or under if fitting it yourself.

All you need if fitting it yourself is a hammer, a mallet, a small poodle, 3 well lubricated nun's a tray of cucumbers, some ky jelly and a huge black affro wig! (optional)

Hmmm a unison of calls for the arb, springs will improve the appearance as well though.

I don't know any nun's!

Re: What to do with £250

Not sure what the rear arb would be like with the std. setup.

I would go for Eibachs first as they not only reduce roll during cornering but they also look soo much better with the -25mm drop.

Where abouts in the NE are you?

The poodle is essential for stress relief when it gets a bit tough, the 3 well lubed nuns are essential for bringing tea & coffee, cucumbers for refreshments, KY for "squeezing it in" , and the wig is optional - Or essential if you don't want the neighbours recognising you and a Skoda together.

I thought the Jabba price was £190 fitted? might be wrong? It took them no longer than 15 minutes to do mine anyway. Cupra intake is £30, easy DIY fit, green filter is around £25-£30, even easier DIY fit (2 screws )

Re: What to do with £250

I'd put the money towards springs and dampers as not only do they reduce roll, but also dials out most of the pitching and diving under acceleration and braking.

Re: What to do with £250

Jabba quote 1/2hr fitting (£30?), although a competent DIYer would have no trouble. Its on their site at around £220 IIRC, but there have been a few available second hand. I paid £150 for mine, £25 for powdercoating it in black, and Jabba are going to fit it next week with my 312mm brakes

The Eibachs have a much more subtle difference to handling, but as you say improve the aesthetics too. IMHO I would wait until you can afford some dampers to go with them, save paying for 2 1/2 hrs fitting twice.

Re: What to do with £250

I'm in Durham during the days, Hartlepool on the nights. VRs's are popping up all over the place at the moment. I've seen a couple in Hartlepool, regularly pass another silver one on the A19, there's red one in Durham, don't see many yellow's though.

Re: What to do with £250

Well, I got eibach pro dampers and pro kit for a -30mm drop (from TDI standard) and that was good - £270 supplied IIRC, but looking at around 3 hours labour time for a decent mechanic to fit. My coilovers were only £400 for a serious drop and serious stiffness... oo-er.

I forgot - The springs were £100ish and dampers ONLY were £270. So coilovers were a decent value all-in-one package.

I work not far from Hartlepool in Sealsands and I see a couple of silver ones pass me most days, one is Hartlepool football fan going by his number plate.
