What engine mods?

I wonder if anyone can tell me what the favoured method of improved performance is for the Fabia Vrs? I have considered Superchips but are there many more? If so, what cost? As my carwill be brand new are they reliable? Many Thanks.

There are many options out there - i've had my VRS for 4 weeks now and have gone for the popular (starter) mods - Seat intake pipe (direct replacement for the VRS - twice the size so lets in twice as much air), Green panel filter (allows more air in - direct replacement for standard air filter element), Jabba chip (gives a lot more mid range punch and doesn't sacrifise MPG - more smoke is only downside i've noticed)

Other popular chips are - Custom code, Upsolute, Revo + many others - if you do a search most have been reviewed
Prices vary for each chip, Jabba are cheap at Ł326 fitted, Revo are Ł499+vat+fitting, Upsolute are Ł305 fitted
Torque and BHP seem to vary from 260bhp@280lb/ft to 196bhp@320lb/ft after chipping

Robby, I think you meant 160bhp, not 260, hehe...

Apart from that, I think the only thing I can add is some people fit a Milltek or Blue Flame "Turbo-Back" Exhaust systems.

If you've got a lot of money, there's Hybrid Turbo's, Larger Injectors, Front Mount Intercoolers, ATB Diffs, Nitrous... You name it!

Suspension and Brake mods are almost mandatory too... As are getting decent tyres.

Welcome to VAG Tuning! Enjoy your stay!

Looked into the Superchip and they sound ok. Anyone know of a Jabba agent in the North East? Their website is still under construction. Oh and where can I get one of these green filters? (novice or what?)

It's a brilliant car in it's own right. 1 year on and I still love it but i'm getting itchy feet and looking for a new car not because I dont like the vRS, just fancy something with a little more presence.

Just a quick one. Are there any issue, like I had with the scoob and k&n naffing up the maf, of the filter causing any long term grief. And will this bugger up a warranty.?

Any non-standard parts can void warranty. The Cupra intake is a warranty-voiding replacement, even though it's a standard VAG part. Green filter, ditto. K&N ditto. Etc.

That said, most of the time a dealer will use some discretion - some don't mind at all, others will void warranty on say the engine if it's engine related.

Main things to make sure you do though is to tell and confirm it is ok with your insurer. Wouldn't want to be involved in anything if you're not insured, and even the smallest tweak COULD void your insurance. A lot of insurers don't mind non-performance enhancing tweaks, but check it. Sometimes a minor increase in premium is to be expected. If you do a full remap etc, you may be charged a lot more. Definitely worth a ring around

Hi
Yes we would advise anyone making mods to inform their insurance company.
We have the Green Cotton Air Filters in stock.
We could offer you Custom-Code too.
We are based in Chesterfield , so not that far to go either.
www.custom-code.co.uk
This is a remap and can offer you 170bhp for the Fabia vrs.
We also do Milltek exhausts and have the PD160 intakes in stock too.
If I can help please feel free to give me a call on 01246 455005.
We are just off the M1 junction 29.
www.jbsautodesigns.co.uk
Have fun with the Fabia.
