What is the vRS like on the motorway?

I did manchester to Val D'Isere last year in one fell swoop, 24 hrs, still went out for Hoegarrdens after - no worries and 50mpg

I found the vRS seats to be very comfy and had no trouble after long journeys.

My seats are quite comfy, but then they are out of a classic base spec fabia.

Not very good when giving it stick around corners, as your a55 just wants to start sliding about. Determined to get mk5 golf GTI seats in mine!

Which engineering firm it is you work for?

Not sure concrete longeivity stacks up all that well these days, with the asphalt mixes they're coming up with. And when you then consider drainage and grip properties...

But its all personal preference though

I find the seats comfy compared to my CTR but a few friends have cometed on the seats being abit harder then they would like from a car..

I do a 90 mile round trip every day for work and find it a great car for the motorways and towns, couldnt ask for any more tbh

I'm an aircraft engineering technician (mechanical stuff though like engines/fuel systems/undercarriage/hydraulics etc, i don't do wiggly volts and electric string!!!!). I did a mechanical engineering apprenticeship before deciding on aircraft though, so had to do more qulifications.

I used to fix big grey noisy things like this.....

My friend bought a vRS as a motorway cruiser to get back and forward to work, 3 hour journey there. After a month he had piles and the car was sold.

Not a comfy car IMO

I do 85 miles a day in mine without any of these problems...

They are harsh seats, uncomortable when you have came from comfy seats. Hell i enjoy taking the works van on long journeys more

Maybe i need to go on an eating binge and get some more sponge in my buttocks

I don't think it's that great. But i don't think it's bad either. Not as stable as the larger cars obviously, but it's quite nice. It's more at home on A and B roads i think.
The only reason i bought mine over a C2 VTS diesel was the 6th gear for motorway and the small chunk more power & torque it offers when required.

Compared to a ford ka though, it'll be a revelation.

Filled mine up yesterday, went on a drive with SWMBO and did roughly 115 miles, with 580 left in the tank and an average of 64.5MPG

That said the seats could use more lumbar support

Mine is great, seats are comfy, although not as comfy as my old Octy vRS. I suffer from back problems, but never had a grumble after being out in mine at all.

Theres a fair amount of road/wind/tyre noise but the engine is barely audible. I'd say the economy, refinement and torque are all positive aspects, but you get that with most modern diesels! However, for the size of car it feels quite refined and grown up on the motorway.

Il second that, engine noise levels are very low, seems to be in its element!

Wheel noise isnt good IMHO, im thinking of sound proofing the arches to help with this.

I find the seats very comfy! When i 1st got the car id pick my Mrs up and by the time we got back to mine we'd take 5-10mins just to get out the car because they are so nice!

Sort the suspension out and high speed bends will not be an issue

I use mine as a company car, so it spends most of it's life on the motorway, I have no problems with it, plenty of grunt, comfy and still good fun for back roads. Tyre noise is apparent, but by no means bad. I did a 700 mile stint to Switzerland in mine (in March), only stopping for the ferry and one fuel stop, me and 2 passengers had no problem, top car!

I'm doing a lot of dual carriageway driving atm whilst I'm commuting to Hull and back (150 mile round trip) and I actually find the vRS a bit wobbly toward the upper speed limit... but maybe that's my crappy tyres?

thats a wheelbase and wobbly suspension thing,my chassis is mega uprated and occasionaly i still get a bit of wobble when caught by an odd camber at speed,without lengthening the wheelbase you just got to live with it i'm afraid

Before my vRS I had a 306 GTI6 which had great seats, I've got a Meridien at work and the seats are more or less the same.

The seats in the Fabia I think are just as comfortable as my 306 was, and the driving position is also spot on for me.
