when to use ASR ?

With winter round the corner and the risk of ice and snow,when do i put the ASR on ? do i leave it on when there is ice and snow on the road ?

Leave it on all the time, should help stop you slipping on split diesel etc.

Unless you press the asr button to turn it off, then asr is allways on. When the light on the dash is illuminated it means the asr is turned off. If the light flashes it means that the asr has been activated.

I always turn mine off. That's the most annoying thing for me the fact that it is on by default.

Follow the manufacturer's recommendations, it's in the handbook

You may have to turn off ASR if you want to drive off under slippery conditions when it's a tad extreme. Generally speaking however, controlling your right-foot according to road conditions will do the job.

I've got ESP and it behaves a tad different from ASR in some ways, but the same guidance works there too

i turned mine off in the rain the other day! - wow! Not good!

Never needed to turn ASR off in mine, even on icy, snowy or slippery roads.

Just prefer to use my ability to control any wheel spin and it slows you down.

I've also got great tyres that have good grip and give great feedback.

I also don't think it's a the best of ideas to push things all the time and let the ASR so it out.

Turn mine off every journey come rain or sun…

Like Andy said you can control wheel spin with your right foot, feed it more, instead of slapping your foot down…

So if you never use it, why turn it off? ESP can also be turned off, but I wouldnt even consider turning it off. It's there for if/when I need it, but I don't rely on it. Ditto for ABS...

I can still make very significant progress - sure I may be able to get .5 of a second lower if I smoke my tyres a little more, but that's more for the track anyway.

That said - as always - each to their own & that's why the button is there

With it on it considerably reduces acceleration from a rounderbout (which is key in MK) if you have the smallest amount of wheel spin

It reduces acceleration. Turning it off prevents it kicking in. If the wheels start to light up you just release the pressure on the loud pedal.

And why is that a problem? Its only traction control, not active yaw control or anything that could actually inhibit your ability to drive quickly.

mines always off, i think it could be dangerous if you need to pull away quickley, it just stops you! I'd rather shed 0.02mm of rubber than risk it stopping me and me getting hit!

I find u power side without it Off !!!!

And makes the back end very happy

surely as this is a driving aid why would you want it off?

But then again if it really does save you 30 seconds off your trip to work??

If it's anything like the ASR in my mate Leon then in the snow you will need to turn it off, otherwise it just keeps cutting the power.

I dont drive quick enough it worry if it's on or off
