Where to get lower front strut brace?

Just been looking through some threads and it seems that AAT does a front lower strut brace, are they the only company which make them, or are there others? if so how do I buy it/where to send payment to etc? I have looked in the AAT Sub Forum but can't find anything.

Also, which would people opt for the aluminium one or the steel one? the aluminium one I would think will weigh less but i've heard that some people have had trouble fitting them, whereas the steel one seems like an easier fit but will probably weigh more. Colour isnt an issue as it will be painted black so as to not look conspicous, unless it smply refers to the finish on the metal?

Is any drilling required and what instructions come with the kits?

Also, would it need somekind of protection applying to stop salty winter roads/weather conditions rotting it?

This question is at any manufacturer and not just the AAT one.

Thanks!

After some recent posts about this, I'm sort of curious as well.

.......................Not yet

Final price including delivery was Ł50 for the alloy version. The steel was is about Ł20 cheaper I think. Chavyboy or Rooboy have the steel version. I'm sure one will be here later to say how much they paid.

I think Chavyboy said it was about Ł34.00 (ish) for a briskoda member, but I could be wrong, it's unlike me to be right twice in one day

Was that for the original AAT groupbuy? In the end we sacked AAT off due to the length of time they were taking.

possible it was though, I'm not sure if chavyboy got a special rate with Dubmeister as part of a group buy, again I could be wrong. Would have got one myself but because of the lengh of time it took to get something sorted I spent the money on something else............no rush yet I guess

So the difference between the alloy & steel one is purely colour?

And they seem to be made by Wiechers.

Alloy may also be stronger, depending on what the alloy is!

People claim to have had problems with the alloy one, yet I haven't heard a peep from anyone complaining about the steel one, i'm sure it'll wiegh a bit more, probably about the same as the Seat Sport upper strut brace which is made of steel and not alloy.

Re: Where to get lower front strut brace?

ressurecting this thread from the dead but it's pointless starting a new thread when the old one fits the bill

With my inpending purchase of this alloy brace from a member , does the sump guard need to be removed to fit it correctly and stay off the car?

Re: Where to get lower front strut brace?

Needs to be removed while fitting but can be refitted afterwards

Good Luck
