Fabia Blueline

Just thought I'd let you guys know that Skoda will be making a special edition Fabia called the Blueline.

Not sure exactly what the spec is but highlights are 15" new style alloys, exclusive Pacific Blue with white roof, lowered suspension, storage pack and 'magic' interior (whatever that is, maybe it cleans itself).

I presume it is based on a Fabia2 but I'm sure it will represent excellent value for money.

Re: Fabia Blueline

so its not going to be like a vrs se? to be honest whats the point in them making a 'special edition'? is it going to have the sport body kit on it?

Yep, you are.

Manufacturers often bring out special editions or 'normal' models, not just the sporty ones.

It's something a bit different to the normal spec and will give a nice wee discount compared to adding the options it has to a standard car I would presume.

Also, a special edition like this would cost Skoda nothing to develop, all they're doing is speccing a few cars with some options and offering a wee discount on them. Hardly stealing a big chunk of the vRS development budget!

Calm down dear, it's not like they're saying this is the replacement for the vRS!

Re: Fabia Blueline

The appearence of this model with some additional kit on which costs nothing? Surely this is more to do with the parlous state of finance and the retail motor industry. I expect that we will see this and some more models with addons to try and shift the many new models that are taking up space. I am in the SE near LHR & Southend and it is a rare sighting a '58' plate. Showrooms around are chock full of cars that people cannot afford to buy.

Re: Fabia Blueline

The blueline isn't really giving you much that you don't have as standard on a '2' apart from the white roof. From the spec lis the metallic isn't standard.

People here have already shown that you can negotiate a 80bhp '2' down to around £10,600 inc. metallic if you buy a stock vehicle, so why pay more?

youve clearly not read the spec sheet properly:

spec over the 2

CLIMATE CONTROL
LINE ALLOYS
GLASSES STORAGE
LOWERED SUSPENSION
METALLIC PAINT
WHITE ROOF
UNDER SEAT STORAGE:

TOTAL COSTVER 1000 POUNDS!!!

but if you dont want the extra kit for an extra 160 quid then go buy a normal 2, its not hard

i think it looks a nice limited run option for someone wanting something a little bit different, and i little bit more excusive

What I couldn't tell from the new Fabia brochure is whether the lowered suspension is available as an option on specs 1, 2 or 3 (including the estate).
Does anyone know please?

Unfortunately you can't get the estate with a white roof because the roof, unlike in the hatch, is not a separate panel (ie there's no join between the roof and the top of the rear pillars).

Re: Fabia Blueline

hi helix

I ordered a fabia 3 estate in august and tried to get the lowered suspension as an option. The brokers but not skoda uk were putting it on the options list. however, after consulting skoda uk, it seems that lowered suspension will be offered as an option on cars that dont have it at the moment but not until february 2009. So yes, but a wait yet

not sure about estate but its a £90 option on the hatches if ordered at factory. but then as its just the springs from the greenline and thats available in the estate, then i cant see why you couldnt order them for the estate 1, 2 and 3

Still hardly worth it IMHO, considering as I mentioned previously that you are far, far more likely to get discount on a standard '2'

Plus you've ignored the things that are listed but are already available on the '2'

Industry opinion is always that 'special editions' are worth no more used that the model on which they are based.

what things have i listed that are available within the standard 2 price, you dont get even mettalic paint included there. plus i think you are more likely to get discount on what ever car is in the showroom ready to go. as the special editions generally are snipped up by dealers, they would be able to get the car out quicker with less fuss so are more likely to do a good deal on whats there.

and who cares if its worth the same amount as another metallic paint fab 2? youve had the use of a car with more spec for the last x years and thats what would metter to me, plus its only 160 quid, less than the guy whos been driving the normal 2 paid for his paint alone, makes sense to me

oh btw loving the adult editing of my post there.

One colour, no choice, hardly worth the premium is it? a fair few of the extras listed are standard on the '2', such as height adjustable seats.

Sorry, the only reason for a special edition is to increase margin, or sales volume. Therefore you are always more likely to get discount on a standard stock model.

£160 quid on like for like sales prices, explain to someone who purchased a '2' for almost a grand less (with metallic) and extras such as armrest (much more useful than lowered suspension that probably has the same manuf. cost as standard) how that is VFM?

Glad it made your socks roll up and down.

Skoda are great, there's no shame on calling them out when they come up with a crap idea.

Re: Fabia Blueline

Siggghhhh.

Anther useful Briskoda thread gone all negative

The Blueline looks like a nice little spec to me. The white roof and lowered suspension improve the look of the car and the magic interior (that's black btw) is nicer than the standard Fabia 2 interiors.

Of course anyone in the market for a new Fabia is going to see what deals they can get on the various specs, and presumably there is movement on this model as well as the others. But this looks like a nice package at a good price to me and I'd chose it over the '2'.

I always think now that anything with "blue" in the title is one of those skinny wheeled, ultra low CO2 cars.

they all have the same profit margin, so it matters not. if somone came into my showroom now and asked for a percentage off a level 2, but i only had a blueline to offer, i would damn well do that better price on that blueline!

i really cant see why your so negative to the blue line, its not for you so get over it! just as you cant see the value in it im sure others will. same as not everyone will see benefit in the greenline, but it doesnt stop their sales just becuase a few people cant gel with it.

Of course the reason behind special editions is to push sales, otherwise why bother bringing out any new models, ever? unless its slipped your mind, car manufacturers game is to build and sell as many cars as possible.

enjoy your bargin level 2 with its armrest

LOL, I could say exactly the same about your obsequious desire to promote it at all costs. Why do you care so much if someone makes a rational critique of something they consider to be a bad idea?
