Controls for the radio on the steering wheel

A button or switch to open the boot when the engine is running
Loads of times I have had to switch the engine off and take the key out the ignition to open the boot.
This is for security I would imagine but it's such a pain in the rear

Oh sorry...and a cup holder in the front dash
Radio controls on a stalk next to the steering wheel are optional on the new Fabia and it has a cupholder up front too

Re: NEW FABIA / FABIA VRS...what improvements would you like from the last generation

I had a 1.4MPI Classic about 7 years ago and the only real thing that annoyed me was that the boot release would jam, so I had to climb in the boot and manually release the catch...easy to do but irritating all the same.
VW put a boot catch under the rear badge on the Beetle, Skoda could have EASILY done the same...hope they've now achieved something more substantial.

Second point.....I hope they put A/C on as standard from day one, unlike the Octavias and Fabias where they introduced it as standard about a year after UK launch.
My Fabia never had it and neither has SWMBO's Octy II, yet its standard now

Makes your loyalty look trodden on...or a mug

Re: NEW FABIA / FABIA VRS...what improvements would you like from the last generation

60 litre fuel tank... please!
TDI at least 170BHP - ideally 200BHP (come on Skoda - push the boat out)
at least 45mpg
DSG or a super smooth clutch
approval for towbar use (not that I want to tow - but stops people kissing your bumper
proper twin rear pipes - current exhaust is a bit naff.
vRS only exclusive colours (perhaps skoda green ?)
decent tinted glass
longer first & second gears
ESP as standard
Bigger brakes, with more much more bite
lower ride hight
decent cup holders
dark seat material (like the current dark headlining though) - or leather as standard?

Above all it must be cheap to buy, maintain, insure - and must munch more expensive cars for breakfast

Better styling, better seats and a proper hot version rather than a warmed over diesel.

Could they also make it so that it handles properly rather than something akin to a hippo on rollerskates?

Where is the fun in that Jon? It's a challenge Makes me grin.

Seats are very poor I have to agree. Not enough lateral support, or lumbar.

I'd definately like to see a 2.0 tfsi engine in there too.

Oh, and DSG.

I really hope nobody off here has a photo enlarged and printed on the roof......lol! What a gay idea. Red mudflaps would be for winners too.

Covered battery? Mine IS covered. Cig lighter - yep. Other bits are just dead wieght. Also - ESP as standard? That IMO should remain an option. Ruins the fun.

Re: NEW FABIA / FABIA VRS...what improvements would you like from the last generation

What will they do with the new skoda fabia VRS if they are going to do one at all? I was horrified when i sore the outside of the new fabia and can only prey that any new fabia VRS will look nothing like it. The inside of the new fabia is however much better, although it does still looks like a slightly cheaper volkswagen interior, but not as much as the old one did. The new fabia VRS should be simple. The new volkswagen dash, slightly better and larger sashy (how ever its spelt), with slightly better handling. New volkswagen sport style seats. And finally the 2.0 TDI 170 output found in the audi A3 sport model. Oh, and a lovely big skoda badge in the middle of the steering wheel.

Re: NEW FABIA / FABIA VRS...what improvements would you like from the last generation

We would love one as SWMBO company car, but as she covers 30K+ a year, boot space is an issue, as is the low rent interior and lack of convenience options.
So how about hatch & estate, and two spec levels (Could they be done for the same price?):

Luxury Estate: Cruise, Rear parking sensors, ESP, Dual Climate, Auto lights and wipers. (This assumes the vRS has the higher output engine, so it's not just an Elegance with a bodykit!)

Track Day Hatch: None of the above, Basic air-con, Stiffened and lowered, front & rear ARB upgrade, Strut brace, Brembo brakes.

I'll have one of each
