Felicia Cutting out!

Tonight my felicia cut out as I went to pull away, which caused it to stall. It took me ages to get it started again, once started on the journey home it was rough and kept trying to cut out, say when changing gear up or down. Also when braking/coming to a stop.

Anyone have an ideas? Would changing the plugs and leads be a good start?

Help as I need it for work tomorrow d'oh!

Anything else it might be. Any home tests I could try before taking it to a garage? Could it just be poor fueling?

Could well be down to a coolant temp sensor giving incorrect fueling.

Difficult to say without having a look.

I take it its a SPI engine?

Ross it's the MPi.

Thinking about it the coolant temp sensor might be it?

I've notice the gauge goes up very quickly even though the car doesn't seem to be hot. Then it will drop again, or would that just be a faulty gauge?

Thanks ross

I had similar symptons on my 1.3 Mpi, turned out to be the throttle air mass sensor. Expensive to replace, so hopefully not!

Re: Felicia Cutting out!

Just bought a T-reg 1.3 Magic which is in good nick but for a couple of glitches that might be connected to this thread so would appreciate some advice...

Starts from cold OK but won't restart from hot without a great deal of churning or having to resort to jump starting. Also the temp gauge won't go above the 70 mark which seems low.

Any thoughts

Re: Felicia Cutting out!

All in group and this thread!
I was going to pose a similar question this a.m. but I think you may have given me the answer.
My 'V'plate 1.3 Mpi has started with a niggling fault over the festive holiday. The problem has been very similar to that described in that the car starts o.k.ish!! runs a bit lumpy until revved and the seems to stabilize. The first time the car comes to a halt or even at a gear change, when the revs drop, at this point the revs drop below tickover and the engine stalls and then is quite difficult to restart, but until now it has restarted. I'll try the temp sensor as suggested.
I am still quite new to the Skoda brigade and still havn't sorted out good suppliers and such. Has anybody got a list of good suppliers either mail order or on the tinternet.
Any help or suggestions much appreciated.
Ben.

Talking Re: Felicia Cutting out!

best bet for suppliers is:

www.jhmbuttco.co.uk

all the bits and bobs you could possibly imagine. They have a downloadable catalogue too, which you can keep to look up things when ur not online, handy!

all is good
have used them before

Re: Felicia Cutting out!

also had a customer with a hard to start felicia - nothing obvious...

turned out to be the crank position sensor was covered in a layer of filth - once cleaned and refitted it was fine...

bizarre to diagnose... but didnt cost any parts!
worth the 5mins it takes to check it, as it is v.easy to get.
