Felicia rear disc brake conversion

yet again, this is a thing i've been planning to do for a while now, basically it's a case of finding something suitable and putting it all together

my initial thoughts are to use the rear stub axles/bearings/hubs/calipers from a 6n2 polo

Re: Felicia rear disc brake conversion thread

i'm lead to believe that the bolt pattern for the stub axles is the same as the felicia stub axles

Re: Felicia rear disc brake conversion thread

Have a look on www.skoda-forum.com for a bloke called Ken. He has done a rear disc conversion on his favorit track car (and a lot more too). I think he used passat or golf parts

My "version".... complet rear brakes from golf 2 GTI. You must modify brake wires.

jj, my felicia fun. And rear HP coilovers are modified from coilovers for hatchback (HP don't made set for pickup) + custom springs. Rear is -60mm low.

Re: Felicia rear disc brake conversion thread

Was that just a straight bolt-on swap then plus changing the brake pipes?

Looks good...

Re: Felicia rear disc brake conversion thread

yeah it is, i've just come back from the scrapyard and i had a look at a mk2 golf while i was there, couldn't get the brake calipers off though because the bolts were rounded off, will go back with some more tools and have another go later

Re: Felicia rear disc brake conversion thread

You'll find that happens more and more with some newer cars, because it saves a few seconds when bolting things up in the factory.

That said, I know the Octys and Golf 4s use sealed hubs.

Re: Felicia rear disc brake conversion thread

Out of interest... if you was going to do this to a Felicia with ABS, can you simply swap over the sensor wiring?

You must use GIII gti/corrado g60 brakes with ABS sensors...

the polo has the abs sensor attached to the back of the hub rather than on the disc. plus the polo/lupo ones have the same wiring connector so you don't even need to change the plugs over

not a great deal no, but disc brakes are imho more reliable and don't tend to suffer from seizing up like drums do

Re: Felicia rear disc brake conversion

i know these aren't necessary but i've got some spacers to go behind the rear stub axles to widen the rear track width

Re: Felicia rear disc brake conversion

Nice idea. Amongst other things, it'll avoid the brake pulsing issues and offset change issues associated with the "normal" spacers.

Re: Felicia rear disc brake conversion

Its not a new idea, plus if you make them wider at the bottom you can dial in some negative camber.

watch out if you are doing it on drums brakes though, the brake pipes might not be long enough
