| I'm quite sure it can't be adjusted as it doesn't have a tensioner and it's all hidden behind a cover without any access holes. |

| It can be replaced, but you definately can not adjust it. I took some pics when I replaced the chain on my wife's Felicia 1.3 a couple of years ago. First 2 pics are the old one..... Last pic is the new one.....

| When I called around not so long ago the job was £160 at an independent garage (that used to be a Skoda dealer) and £200 at a Skoda dealer. Apparently it's not too challenging if you're a bit of a diy'er (and the parts are only about £40 or less) but I've not attempted it yet. |

| I havn't really got much experience of working on cars but i managed to change it myself no probs! Made a big difference with the noise from the engine... i should have taken some pictures as it was very loose and had even more slack than shown in the picture! But deffo can't be adjusted as skoda thought it a good idea to use a chain and no tensioner!! |

| For less than £20 for a new one with gears, and a diy capable job, at the time skoda probably thought why go to the expence of fitting the tensioner

| Any chain in theory will need changing eventually. The Micra is on OHC engine so pretty different, also has tensioners.

| My engine is on about 120k miles, never had the chain changed. The engine is a bit noisy, but not sure if that's down to the chain or not. When I have some spare time will give replacing it a go anyway. Haynes book of lies suggests it is a sensible precaution to change the chain every 30,000 miles. |

| Haynes says change the chain every 30k miles? They should have stuck with a belt then in that case. Does it also depend on how its driven? Would a low mileage stop start place greater stress on the chain than say one thats been on more continous journeys on coutry roads on motorways? |

| I got mine changed for £90 labour about 20,000 miles ago. Runs like a dream. How long it takes to start rattling i would say is dependent on how often serviced and how it is driven. i drop the oil every 5-6000 miles.
