| Ah bo*****ks Changed the front wishbone balljoints earlier in the year and car has been creaking like a old pram when turning right. I suspected that the balljoint had dried and i was right. Luckily i drilled out the rivets on the wishbone so in theory £7 and Mr Jorily should sort it.......famous last words eh!! Oh well at least it wasn't the steering rack or anything pricey ![]() ![]()

| When i say I drilled out the rivets, what i should have said is my friendly garage did it!! I couldn't free the balljoint despite undoing the pinch bolt successfully!! I got pissed off gave my garage the balljoints gave them £50 and set them on it. Hopefully i will be more successful this time!! | On older Golfs they are riveted originally, but it's OK to bolt new ones on.

| Any high tensile bolt, which means Grade 8.8 or higher. Most normal bright or black steel hexagon head bolts will have either 4.8 or 8.8 in raised type on the head. 4.8 is low tensile, which is fine for stuff like fixing trim in place. From memory I think you need M8 by 25mm for the balljoint. Torque will be about 30ft lb. |
