skoda felicia water pump leak

Hi there i have a problem with the water pump on my 1300 felicia, there is a perfectly round hole in the water pump housing when viewed from under the car.
i was wondering if there should be a plastic or rubber bung supposed to be in the hole, obviously its leaking a lot of water. if the hole is not supposed to be there would chemical metal do the trick ??? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Re: skoda felicia water pump leak

Sounds like the seal has gone on the bearing. the hole is an indicator.

Re: skoda felicia water pump leak

Indeed the hole is called a 'tell tale' hole.
