Fitment of Ibiza MK4 1.8T FMIC to Fabia vRS

Hi there - a little advice from you guys, if you don't mind?

I've been offered one of your fine FMICs, from the 1.8T Ibiza Mk4, with, and I quote, "the connectors for a tdi"

Now, do your connections for the Ibiza TDi and Fabia vRS differ? I also need to know if the crashbar is the same on a Ibiza and a Fabia, I presumed it would be?

I also understand the 1.8T intercooler you make is a little thicker than the TDI one. Will this pose a problem?

In summary, I'm checking up on compatibility, and if there's any issues I need to be aware of, or any extra items I'll need. Or if it just plain won't work!

Thanks,
Steve

Re: Fitment of Ibiza MK4 1.8T FMIC to Fabia vRS

hello
the skoda VRS intercooler attaches to the front panel of the car ...
the seat Ibiza is mounted off the crash ...we supply a a crash bar with the Ibiza that is modified....the connectors are the same size .

so , really you the intercooler is not cross compatible

Thanks for the reply. So basically, the Ibiza FMIC can't be fitted to the Fabia? Or is it just that different fittings and/or connectors are required?

Steve

The FMIC fittings are usually welded onto the IC itself so aren't gonna be easy to change. If it's cheap then it might be worth taking the gabmble and trying to get it to fit. The impression I get from Forge's reply is that it's not gonna be a simple job getting it to fit if it will at all.

As he said, no! Its to do with how it attaches to the car. Read the reply Steve!

Saying that, if its cheap enough, surely something could be fabricated to make it work? Could it not just be attached to the Fabia crash bar instead?

The mountings and pipework are quite different. Even the pukka vRS FMIC is a tightish fit, so there isn't any room to play around with adaptor brackets. Just bite the bullet and get the real thing before the summer goes!
(And it's always worth giving them a call, mentioning Briskoda and asking for their best price, GB or not...)

at summer comment - it's July! Maybe we'll get sun and warmth one day eh?

Did you just buy a one off from Forge? Or has their been a GB or anything that I've missed? When's it going on?

Steve

I got mine from Forge, they put a group buy on but no interest so i just rung them up and ended up pennyless.
It will be worth the wait , as I havernt heard a bad review about one yet.
Iam going to fit it myself i think now, The plan was to get awesome gti fit it while having my brakes done but The FMIC hasnt come yet (nobodys fault) so i will be fitting it, along with HINT nshaunluke.
