The most difference would be the rear
I would think the 22mm one
It is a bit trickier to fit on the octy 4X4 as these have the full spare wheel well
Blimey this is going to sound so bad
But as it is made for the TT and they dont do full size spare then you have to do a bit of modding to the wheel well
You have to just erm remove a bit of the roundness with a hammer
Sounds bad , but it is not alot
I have a customer that had one fitted a while back , so let me see if I can get him to post for you and let you know of the difference it made
Bear with me I am researching

4x4T

As Sarah advised dont do just the front, I did this whilst trying to resolve what to do with the rear & it handled like a PIG. In the end to avoid the hammering exercise I had a bespoke rear made but that was £300 about 2 years ago. Rather a nice one with rose joints etc but I agree a lot of dosh but it does work rather well

For the front I simply used the R32 one from a VAG garage, they do 2 thicknesses, I went for the thicker one.

Pm EddyH or Bengie, both have used the std rear bar & carried out the big hammer mod

We all have modded suspension so cant comment on how much difference it will make to the std set up but it can only help

Is the standard one 14mm if it is then a 25 mm one is a 900% increase in torsion (from the whiteline site) that sounds alot.Tried bengie but his box is full

Probably not as easy as that, the steel grades may vary & different steels have different properties, a thicker bar wont neccesarily be better, higher grade steel is harder to use, the very high grades cant be cold bend or they will crack so has to be softened using heat, bent & then re heated to restore its properties. Im no expert, I just found it a minefield when I tried to get one made so in the end left it to Jabba who used a company who make ARB's for race cars

Bengie will be a good source of info so be persistant

Thanks stuart, yes i know steel isnt quite like that i am an engineer and we make a lot of blades that have to be annealed and then worked and then sent for hardening becase they are unworkable when hard.Is the standard one only 14mm thats tiny.It seemed that 25mm was very large step.

Perhaps they use 25 of a low grade as its cheaper to produce.

I cant remember what size R32 bar I used on the front other than it was the thicker of the 2. My memory is saying something like 17 or 22 were the options but it was 3 years ago. A good VW garage should be able to tell you. The plus of going with the R32 one is the bushes fit as well. If the 25 is not the size used by VW you will need to source non std bushes.

Its probably a work up but if you have access to the treatment at a reosnable cost can you get a bit of bar & have it bent to match the std bar then treated. Use a dia to suit std bushes. This would save having to customise the wheel well. You might find Bengie or Eddy have the std ones you could use as a template to save taking your car off the road or running with no ARB for a while (something I would not do !!)

The 25mm one is the Neuspeed race so i would have thought it would be of the best quality compared to the others.I only used the whiteline site for the increase to be honest i wasnt thinking of getting one of theres. We dont use any of this type of steel at my work or i would have.I think i will try the 22 mm one.Does this come with all fittings sarah?

Thanks

Hi
i am lookin at gettin new ARB but unsure what to get.

I am lookin at gettin the whiteline 22mm rear ARB and the 23mm R32 front ARB.

is this a good combination or should I stick with the standard front ARB with the whiteline rear?

cheers
billy
