query about Octavia rear ARB

Whilst getting some work done on my Octavia vRS mk1(split sump!!! - I think you've seen my other thread), at my local dealer, I asked them to investigate a knocking noise from under the car. They confirmed my suspicions, that it was a broken exhaust bracket, therefore, I thought, giving me the excuse for a stainless steel exhaust!!!!!

However, they also said that the rear ARB bushes were worn so the ARB was banging on the bottom of the car. This would need to be done for it to pass its next MOT. This has temporally scuppered my plans for the exhaust!!!

I notice on your website you do a range of rear ARB’s for the Octavia (neuspeed?) and was wondering if fitting one would a) solve the problems with the existing ARB and b) generally improve the handling.

The prices of ~£195+vat seems reasonable (the main dealer says £195 (but that included labour)).

What would your labour cost be for fitting? And would that include the bushes the main dealer talked about? I live in Leeds, so Manchester is not too far away, and am no good at mechanical things so would be looking at fitting.

If it solves all my problems then I’d rather spend a bit more money on improved parts and performance rather than standard parts from the dealer.

I agree , if you have a faulty part , it is not much dearer to do uprated than standard
But I do know that it is the front anti roll bar that has the main problems with the bushes and knocking
Did the get mistaken?
The centre bracket on the Octavia is very common for breaking off too
We do a repair for £45.00 + VAT if that helps too
but this ARB is what I am confused about

Thanks for the responce. I am just looking at the print out from the garage and it reads "Advice - Anti roll bar and bushes worn & fouling subframe £195 inc VAT". So it could be either front or back??. You are probably right - I must have just got it in my head that it was at the back. I'll call them tomorrow and ask.

Thanks for the cost of the exhaust repair but I'll try and wait until I can afford a stainless steel back section.

good choice
Save up for the Stainless one
The front arb`s are so so common I would say yes front
The main cost is fitting as the front subframe has to come off to get it off
We do a couple
The FX one or the Neuspeed one
The FK is £90.00 + VAT or the Neuspeed one is £185.00 + VAT and it is a bigger one @ 25mm and comes with the complete kit
The labour is £99 + VAT for fitting and it will need a geo done afterwards @ £67.50 + VAT
So that price is not bad that they have given you
IIRC the bar is £70 ish + VAT then you need 2 bushes @ £8 + VAT and then 2 clips @ £11 + VAT for standard
