Car: Silver vRS (218 BHP + 349 lbs/ft) | Thanks a million Awesome Gti :) Where do I start...............
Well, my car has been a bit temperamental and plagued with bad luck in the last few months. Thus - I took it to Awesome.....they diagnosed that last problem as a boost leak, and a knocking camshaft. We replced the cam with an Allards item, and also fited the Allard EGR bypass. On starting the engine again, it sounded like a transit van, so a full stripdown was authorised, and the engine was found to have lunched itself on swarf.
So............a plan was hatched. Awesome sorced me a low mileage Golf 150 pd motor, and fitted that. Then fitted my cam and other bits to it. Then they tried to map it, but my clutch wouldn't handle more than 320 fl lbs, so it was changed for an even stronger Sachs sintered paddle clutch. Mapping then continued to provide me with 215 bhp @4500 rpm, and 350 ft lbs from 1500 rpm, with it tailing down to 275 ft lbs at 4500 rpm.
Temps were seen to be getting high, so a new intercooler design was needed. Drawings were made, sent to Forge, and this will be fitted in a fortnight.
All in all, I am absolutely delighted with the car, which is now so smooth, so usable, and so torquey. I dont have a power band anymore, it's ALL usable power from 1500 - 4500 rpm.
As for the service from Awesome - excellent as always. They (Mark mainly ) kept me informed every step of the way, Geoff the mapper did a very good job, also mapping out my Egr values to avoid CEL issues, and Sarah makes a great brew.
10/10 Awesome - many many thanks.

Good to see your car back up and running dave.
Are the figures at the flywheel or at the wheels?
Also are you still running the Oem DMF or have you gone for a SMF, i hear that sach now make a SMF to go with the organic or sintered late paddle clutch.
Only been to awesome twice but btoh times they have offered very good service

Im pretty happy with it now if i'm honest, it doesnt feel like it could take much more. Im not interested in BHP anyway, as most of us know its ft lbs that matter, and it has plenty. I'll need a lsd and coilovers before I go more, 300 would be nice...we shall see what the future brings.

And then tweaking it for more grunt | |
