Default vRS shocks on non-vRS - which springs?

Hi Awesome guys and gals, can you please clear something up for me
I have a standard 1.8T Octavia Elegance and can get hold of low-mileage vRS shocks but I need to know which springs to fit. I want to lower my Octy to about vRS level so all the lowering springs like Koni/Eibach etc that offer 35mm lowering would be fine, but will these work on the vRS shocks? I'm assuming the vRS shocks are shorter than standard Octy shocks so should work with stiffer/lower 1.8T springs, or am I wrong? Will it create a zebedee bouncy castle ride? I read here about someone who fitted lowering springs to his vRS on the vRS shocks but it turned the car bouncy. Although he was lowering a further 20mm on the already-lower vRS ride.
Any advice much appreciated? Thanks

Your car is different to a vRS
I do not think that putting vRS shockers will be of any benifit at all
You need to have the springs and shocks to match your car
The front shockers are completely differnt to yours as it is down to where the ARB mounts , the springs , if you start putting incorrect ones can mess the bounce up too and have more bounce than Zeberde
Stick to what should be for your car , my advice
You can get STR.T kit for £230.75 + VAT that is springs and shockers from Koni and specifically for your car
That will give a lowering of 35mm all round
Sorry if that was not what you was looking for

Thanks Sarah, I thought vRS suspension goes straight on a non-vRS? See link:

http://briskoda.net/forums/octavia-i...rs-octy/49457/

However, I know what you mean by right kit for car, I just wanted a cheaper solution and I also didn't want bright orange shocks. Are there any reasonable kits (sub £300) that are in black? Ta

They will physically fit , there is a seperate part on the vRS for a different fitting
But it is the dampening too
I dont know what the dampening is like on the vRS one , plus when you take in to account you would need some good springs to go with it , maybe when all fitted , you may not get a good ride
I dont know? sorry
Mmm
Now how about I can supply you a specific kit , with black shockers and give lowering of 35/35 , 55/35 or 55/55 all under £300 inclusive for the kit from an EXCELLENT manufacurer
Would you be interested in that?

Now you're talking Sarah and I'm very interested. The 35/35 option sounds good. And just who is this mythical EXCELLENT manufacturer?

I've looked at these but couldn't see any for the 1.8T and when I've looked into them there's been a note saying "85.) Excluding turbo charged petrol engines." Are these definitely for the 1.8 Turbo engine then? If you can guarantee they're for the 1.8T I'll take 'em

Sorry to be a pain in the **** Sarah but every website I've looked at has a note next to these that says "Excluding Turbo charged petrol engines" and Skoda did make a 20v non-turbo Octavia. Can you shed any light on this?

Hi Sarah,
it's me again. Thanks so much for all your advice but I have just one more query. If I was to up the money a bit I've noticed Eibach do a Pro-Dampers kit for around £300, but which springs could I use with these? The Eibach Pro-Springs are listed for the 1.8 but no mention of the 1.8T? If the dampers are listed for the 1.8T the springs must be compatible? Or would another set of springs fit? Thanks again

Hello
Yahoo!!!
What a result , nice one
I have just had a lovely chat with the lovely Sonja @ Eibach
Yes they do springs for your car
These have just got their TUV approval
They cannot get that until they have been tested you see , so even though they will fit , they cannot say that until they have been tested
The part number for the springs is 7907-140
Octavia (1U2) 1.8, 2.0 automatic transmission, 1.9 TDI 09.96 - 05.04 7907-140 £153.18 + VAT
Well done my dear Dr Watson

EXCELLENTE!!! You never give up do you? So, I'd be looking at how much for the damper and spring kit? And just to clarify , this is for the 1.8T saloon, manual.
