Andy2407's Mazda 6 Estate

Following on from Tom's Mazda 3 blog, I thought I'd continue the Mazda theme with details of my new company car.

I started a new job this week, and have been given a Mazda 6 Estate 2.2D (163ps) TS2 in Aurora Blue.

I didn't get any say in selecting the car - it had been picked by my predeccesor before he left - but it was delivered brand new the day before I started and so far I'm more than happy with his choice.

The spec is....

Dynamic Stability Control (DSC) and Traction Control System (TCS)
Brake assist
Front airbags
Front and rear curtain airbags
Front side airbags
Front and rear electric windows
Electric door mirrors
Telescopic steering
Global closing
CD player with MP3 functionality
Aux connector for MP3 player
Thatcham Category 1 alarm and immobilizer
Black cloth trim
Cruise control
Trip computer with speed alarm
Dual zone climate control
Leather steering wheel and gear shift
CF-Net steering wheel controls
Additional 2 speakers (total of 6)
Welcome mode lighting
Rear centre armrest
Sliding function on centre armrest
17" alloy wheels
Auto dimming rear-view mirror
Electric folding mirrors
Automatic rain sensing front wipers
6-CD changer
Front fog lights
Integrated Bluetooth© System
Rear Vehicle Monitoring System

My first task was to dig it out of the snow, followed by a 140 mile drive home from the office in temperatures that got down to -9 deg C.

That's it so far - I'm still reading the manual and exploring its various features - but I'll post some more thoughts as time goes by.

A protection detail is also on the cards, but much as I would love to do it immediately, I guess I'm going to have to wait for the weather to improve.

First couple of pics (with the Malvern Hills in the background) ....

Thats well nice mate , theres 1 like it near me and they look well, weathers not really conducive to detailing yet .
Very pretty looking car Andy - I had a browse on the Mazda website earlier today - shame they didn't offer you the 2.2 D 185 Sport - that has an awesome spec, but as a company car I wouldn't grumble at yours
Yeah - the Sport does look very impressive - especially as I don't think there is a 6 MPS at the moment.

But seeing as I inherited a car, I think things could have been a lot lot worse - I'm certainly not complaining!
Very tidy looking car! :D
How does the boot compare to an Octy Andy??

I am seriously thinking of swapping the mx-5 for one as they are offering the best px, but need as big a load space as a octy estate at least. None of the dealers round us have an estate in stock to actually look at :wonder:
Boot looks bloody big - but its a few years since I had the Octy estate and mine was a Mk I anyway so hard to compare.

Very easy mechanism for dropping the seats down, and I think you can store the luggage tonneau cover under the false boot floor, although I haven't tried it yet.
Cheers Andy, the boot floor in the octy estate mk2 is the same dimensions as the hatchback so if it is bigger than your green octy then it will be big enough. Or it would be if the dealer could get hold of one, it appears they are coming up to a revision and no petrol variations are in stock or due to be built before it :(
Didn't realise it was a brand new one Andy - that's very nice indeed! Handsome looking thing the 6, especially in facelift I think. Stands out on the road and doesn't look the same as everything else, which seems to be the way with most manufacturers these days....

As you say, you've done well there as you could have ended up with absolutely anything :D
Smashing car indeed :o)

Let me know how you get on with it - interested in mpg too.
Thats an impressive spec list!!!
Has it been seen at any Malthouse meets?
