Unhappy Bad news

Im going to have to scale-back my folding to only 3 or 4 pcs..
Ive had my knuckles rapped about running f@h on company servers... we have 2 new 2nd line staff who have spotted the services when mapping the network..
that leaves my core2duo laptop, my other P4 2.8 pc, a pIII 1gig.. i cant get it to send results in vista.
might try to grab a couple of pentium D machines round the office but looks like i might have to concede my third place soon

Bummer...

Your job is more important than folding... which is why I've not put it on any of the servers at work... even though they not really doing anything 99% of the time.

It's a shame I didn't join Briskoda acouple of months earlier as I could of setup a good few machine folding at my last job b4 i left

Yeah I'm going to have to scale back as I had used a couple of servers which were not doing anything, however now they are needed so work takes priority and FAH will have to go.

I do think it's quite poor how few folders we have.

Yeah considering how many members the forum has, to have only 30-40 regular folders is pretty poor.

It may be that we only have 30-40 regular IT bods who understand setting folding up on there pcs.

Neo.... what issue were you having on Vista, as I have two FAH cores running on a Vista Ultimate machine at the mo.

To summarise, you use spare PC idle time to do scientific work

Maybe it's because people don't know about it. It is kinda hidden away on the site

Tried mine again....result = boiling hot pc and cutting the rate back only succeeds in sending parts of the work unit back up.....exactly the same as before ...so I won't be trying it again.....strange thing is I think I am still about 32nd in the Briskoda ratings

Neo... just had my first WU complete on Vista and it uploaded fine. Could be the Vista personal firewall blocking it ? I specifically allowed the FAH core full network access.

Yay, we need more machines/people.

I see BPM on the upward trend again, now how long can I hold the elusive first place.

Not had any problems with Vista here... until yesterday when my laptop didn't shut down properly. Had to hard power it off eventually. 80% of a 2124 work unit gone - it restarted the unit at the beginning when it came back up

am starting to add the client to desktop p4's again, as we had to re-image all workstations recently to bring them upto date as far as central uni systems are concerned.
luckily the muppets that use most of the w'stations aint got a clue generally, especially if run as a client service.

just a pain when the systems get re-imaged(remotely) as i have to go about installing it again - obviously i aint going to include it in the image haha that would be asking for trouble!!!

sorry to possibly be the one to take your third spot neo
