Default Intake/exhaust-manifold tuning

Hi!

When I read about TDI-tuning it is often remaps that is the "answer" - generic or custom. Some mechanical bits - down-pipe, bigger turbo's, are mentioned sometimes.

But what about manifold? Is it developed "ideal-length" tubular exhaust-manifolds and ditto straight-tube intake-manifolds for VAG's TDI-line - or is this considered uneccesary.

olit

EDIT: Manifold it is.... now

i assume you mena manifolds but seeing as your from norway i'll let it slide

i tried for a while to get an equal length tubular manifold for my standard fit turbo on my 1.8T and unless your going bigger turbo they are hard to find and can be very expensive. a decent manifold alone can cost upwards of £1000.

Also on the standard diesel turbo the manifold is part of the turbo itself.

Hi!

I know it exist some tubular manifolds for the 1.8T petrol engine. And I have read that they give the engine a broader/wider powerband.

I was wondering about why not do the same thing to a diesel engine. A original powerband between approx 2000 and 3500 rpm is pretty short...

And was wondering if somebody like the Dervdoctor might have tried it, and to what effect!

you need to keep the manifold as short as possible. Most TDi's have a manifold built into the turbo these days. But if you have a real big turbo we only make the manifold as short as possible really to make best use of the exhaust gas
