| Hi everyone, My Engine warning light came on last week after a missed gear change leaving the petrol station, After reading about said light on here I decided to disconnect the battery for 5 mins to reset it as I was sure it was a glitch. A week later , I.e Yesterday the light came back on and I decided to investigate fully as its obviously not a glitch, I dont know any fellow Briskodians in the York area, so I took her to FR Pulleyn's the local Skoda/Scooby Dealer to see what VAG codes stored were, It Came up with; 17705 (throttle valve connection pressure) , 17704 (malfunction in cooling system) and 18010 (Voltage supply, Voltage to low). I quickly realised 18010 was down to me disconnecting the battery. The car runs ok, but seems to stall from cold when setting off until its warmed up. then it seems ok. Im guessing 17704 is the thermostat and should be straight forwards to fix. (I hope) Finally 17705, which after exhaustive trawling of the forum seems to Be either the N75 valve, the MAF (which has gold connectors not silver ones) or the dump valve. I've checked for split hoses and found no signs of damage, so I'm plumping for the dump valve initially. The question's are would a dodgy D.V give a intermittant fault? and should i change this first? Are there any procedures to try to eliminate any of the components? as this seems to be a fault code that dealers struggle with to find/fix? |

| A new OEM DV is only £22.69 and at that price is arguably worth replacing to see if it is causing the problem. If it doesn't improve matters then you can keep it as a spare.

| I guess thats the route i'll take then, The car has a warrenty but the dealer is in Bradford and isnt a VAG dealer, I dont want to be trekking up there for a problem there not going to be able to diagnose. |

| You can be technical and use a mitivac tester, but a good old suck does the job.

| I had this fault 17705 and the DV sorted it. I don't know much about the internals of a DV but due to it only happening when cold would this mean that your testing of the DV may not show up anything unusual as it hasn't completely failed. Anyone know why this has a tendency to happen only when cold ?

| The light came straight back on this morning and now it's dumping loudly, I can't find any vacuum tube but my bro has a vac guage (left at work). I've spoken to the local Skoda dealer and there looking at a warrenty claim, they can't get it in until the 6th, so can i drive it until then or should i leave it on the drive? Problem is the significant other goes to Hull twice a week in iit for work. |

| If the DV is noisy then its almost certainly split. Usually you can really hear the DV when blipping the throttle at standstill.
