Default ELSA WIN, Skoda TIS or Haynes Manual?

I'm looking for a workshop manual for my Mk1 Octavia TDI.

I've had a search through some old posts which seem to suggest that older versions of Elsa win offer little or no support for this model and that perhaps Skoda TIS is a better option, although i note that Elsa win is now up to ver 3.51

What is or are the best option(s) for workshop manual for my car (bear in mind some other members of my family have other VAG cars so a "universal" would be useful) and who or where is the best place to get them from

Many Thanks

Frank

I don't think I can answer your question, but this is something that really erks me about VAG. Audi, VW and SEAT all have site such as https://erwin.audi.com/erwin/showHom...FA640.ASTPVWE1 yet skoda havn't.

The link is above is the offical documentation Audi pump out to garages. Why can't skoda have something like this ?

I have Elsawin for Volkswagen cars. It has very good diagrams of components and how to work on teh mechanical bitz. HOWEVER it refernces all the VW specific tools and even the VAG1551 diagnostic system. I also have a Haynes Manual which in general is good but is limited in terms of what they consider a DIY mechanic can do. They do not show how to repair gearboxes etc. The Skoda Manual (Haynes) can assits with Bora / Golf IV but not all parts are identical

Just to add to VRStu's comments; The only truly legal copies of the offical manuals you can get outside of the dealer network (as is for the public) is the web based erwin pay as you go sites direct from VAG.

Stu, I think it's about time to close this. No offense to those who replied so far, but if you were using legitimate copies you would also get updates and current versions... As usual with threads like this, they won't get anywhere useful.
