Default fault code

have a problem with a 08 octavia bud engine, customer complained of the car not starting one morning, she doesnt know whether ther was ignition lights, started eventuallywith a jump start. fault code read drivetrain databus faulty?? andy ideas?

You don't mention if it was a spurious fault or if it is still showing.

it keeps coming back but she hasnt had the starting problem since

its 1.4 where is the the drivetrain databus located on the octavia 2?

The driveway databus is part of the can bus. Its not an object as such is a network between the engine, gearbox, brakes, dash etc.

Could be a faulty gateway unit or a poor connection. You need to have a look at the can bus network and see if any control units are dropping in and out.

My understanding is that each control unit has a twisted pair of communications wires. Those from the steering, brakes and transmission controllers link into the engine control unit - this is collectively known as the drive train databus. The ECU has another pair of wires which link into the gateway. The gateway allows communications between the other CAN sytems on the car such as the convenience CAN.
