Have you got it working as an ignition key yet?

If you have, there is a trick where you shut the drivers door with the window open, hold the key already remote active in the lock in the "open" position, while having the key to be remote programmed in the ignition in the "on" position. I think then you push down on the open button on the remote on the key in the ingnition, and this programs it.

Don't take this is as gospel. I was just told it was like this a long time ago and I'm not sure I remember it fully either.

Procedure For Matching Remote Key Fobs To The Car:
Using a spare key switch the ignition on.
Insert the key to be programmed into the driver's door lock.
Manually lock the driver's door using the key.
Press the Lock or Unlock button on the fob once.
Wait for a least one second.
Press the Lock or Unlock button on the fob twice.
The vehicle horn will sound to indicate correct programming.

This is what I was thinking of Stu - along the same lines, but I was totally wrong.

Or if you have VAG COm and want to program the remote..

Address word 46
Adaptation channel 00 (erase learned values, yes)
Adaptation channel 01 (enter and save the number of remotes to program) then press either button once on each remote, indicators should flash once for each key.

Job done.

Have you got the key working at all - Does it allow the car to start?

There are two procedures - One to synchronise the fob with the immobiliser and one to synchronise the fob with the remote locking.

If it isn't sync'd to the immobiliser then you'll have to follow the procedure on my website using VAG-COM and your Immo code first.

The details Ross gave you above are only for the unlocking part of it, you will also need to do the rest of it.

AFAIK the keys differ in operating frequency and not Immo versions.

I am assuming that you have your 4 digit code.

stu,

new key has the same frequency as the 2 original keys, the only difference, is the new key is a 3 button remote, i know it won't open the boot but if it will open the doors i'll be more than happy.

To get the key coded to the imobiliser is the tricky part. You will need a registered version of Vag-Com and the 4 digit SKC from the dealer. This code costs £15 and to get it you will need to give them the 14 digit imobiliser code or the car. Took me a day to get the code and around an hour to code it. The instructions from ross-tech website didn't work perfectly and it took some fiddling to get it to work. Once the key is coded, the central locking bit is a doddle.

The code doesnt actually cost anything. Although a dealer may charge for thier time to email Skoda etc.

An hour to code it!!!

Sounds like you really were struggling.

If you still have the original plastic key fob that came with the car this will have your 4 digit SKC on it.

spent an hour last night,( after fitting and intigrating my phone kit) to get the remote to code, no joy what so ever, tried all the differant instructions sent, still no joy,are you now saying that the remote will not activate until the immobiliser is working ???? or have i bought a duff key from our polish friend on ebay.
the key is a 3 button remote and not a 2 button as the originals, or do i need a newer veriosn of vag-com (3112 at present)

Got my key from ebay too. I used version 409.1 to code the key. Is your vag-com registered? do you have the 4 digit skc?

Is your version a registered version?? I'm not sure if it's limited in shareware mode.

There is no code to get from the car - the 4 digit SKC would have been supplied from new on a plastic key tag. If you don't have that then you need to go to the dealers and ask them to get it.

I think you will still get the remote working without the immo, it will open the car but not start.

Try this simple method -

Procedure For Matching Remote Key Fobs To The Car:
Using a spare key switch the ignition on.
Insert the key to be programmed into the driver's door lock.
Manually lock the driver's door using the key.
Press the Lock or Unlock button on the fob once.
Wait for a least one second.
Press the Lock or Unlock button on the fob twice.
The vehicle horn will sound to indicate correct programming.

Edit - I forgot to add that I am 100% sure that the method I detail on my website works as that's how I do it.

You will fail at the first hurdle if you don't have the 4 digit SKC as you need it to log in -

[Select] [17 - Instruments]
[Login - 11]
Enter zero followed by the 4-digit SKC.
For example, if your SKC is 1234, enter 01234.
[Do It!]
