Default Octavia I instrument cluster coding

Hi,

I'm new to VAG COM, but have just bought a genuine lead and was trying it out yesterday. All works brilliantly, but I'm now slightly confused! Looking at my instrument cluster coding (2002 Octavia I 90bhp TDI), it's set to 19412. That all makes sense except the '1'. The label file (1U0-920-xxx-17.LBL) says that that digit should be 4 for 4 cylinder, 5 for 5 and 6 for 6. I'm pretty sure I've got more than 1 cylinder!!!

Is it set incorrectly (although I don't see how it would be, as I bought the car new and I don't think anyone's been in there before), or does the '1' mean something else? Should I leave it alone or change it to 4?

Could it be because I've swapped it from variable to fixed servicing by using the dashboard button in the past?

Thanks in advance,

Alan

Please post a complete Auto-Scan it's possible we are mis-interpreting the cluster part number here.

Here's the complete AutoScan. The instrument cluster coding was originally 19412, but I set it to 17412 in an attempt to switch off the seatbelt chime (as mentioned in my other thread).

Thanks, that cleared things up. I fixed the label file so the next data version update should fix that. I've also added the proper coding table to our WIKI.

Thank you - that makes sense now. And I'm impressed by the speedy response and fix! I'm liking VAG COM a lot - a good purchase!

One more question about that 1U0-920-xxx-17 label file. In the file it says that Adaptation 003 is consumption correction, but when I tried to access that yesterday evening I couldn't (I've forgotten the exact message, but basically I got the impression that my cluster didn't have an adaptation channel 003).

Is that an error in the label file, or is it just something that some 1U0-920 clusters support and others don't, and mine happens not to? Or is there a different adaptation channel that might work on mine?

Thanks again for all your help,

Alan

Depending on the cluster software version this channel can be disabled, not a label file problem though. Older and later versions do have that channel again, we've seen that before but there isn't something one can do about it.
