Question Overtaking Flash

Would I be correct in thinking this can be activated using Vag-Com if you change the country setting or can you just go straight to the Electrical System Modual - Channel 6 if you do have to change the country setting, what country setting do you need to select that won't alter any of the other settings of the car

Or is this complete tosh and it can't be done

From what I understand, you can flick the indicator arm (not fully activating it) and it will automatically flash between 1-5 times..... what ever you set it at in vag-com.

I recall seeing a thread regarding this on a Seat forum some time back..... however, I could have been dreaming all this and I could be talking a load of cr*p

The penny drops!!
Yes. Mine flashes 3 times and was a factory standard setting. Why would you want to change it? Does yours not do this?

Correct.... it doesn't that is from what you have just said, I presume it doesn't require a change in the country setting on the Fabia VRS? I will have to get the laptop out this weekend

IIRC there was something about these codes on the site here, or on Stu's site.

There were a couple of early models out that hvn't had this feature due to production issues. If you do have a central electronics control module with index C or higher, this feature can be activated by the dealer with sort of a reflash. If you are unsure, post your 09 control module part number.

IIRC anything before 05MY on the Fabia doesnt have this feature. I've personally not seen a reflash CD for it (but that doesnt mean there isnt one). I was also told to get it you have to fit a late spec 09 central electrics control unit.

It's not a flash cd, it's a guided function - don't have the exact name right now.

Thanks everyone.... My car is 53 plate so it's out of the reach of vag-com...... never mind would have been a nice feature!

Edit..... I will post the 09 control module part number over the weekend... Thanks again

my march 04 registered Fabia VRS has 3 flash indicators as standard , so my build date could be late 2003 onwards ? so will Toonartists VRS be that much different to mine in relation to the modules fitted as his could be a similar build date but registered in february 04 , a 53 plate reg

Plate doesn't say much since the registry date and production date can be way off. The VIN might be helpful, but as said above if you want to be sure - get the contrl module part number.

Strange one that, they obviously sneaked the upgrade to the ECU in at some point! My Fabia was a March 04 registered too, so before the facelift, yet had this function too.
