Default VAG-CAN Commander

Hi to all, I have got a ELM232 VAG-CAN Commander off flea-bay last year.
I only use it for my VW Touran to read/erase dtc's.
But last week i tried to reset the service message but could not. So i reset it manually by holding down the trip ign on then turning clock stalk to the right this then displayed 10.000 miles, so i guess ive reset to fixed service now as i was on variable.
But yesterday i noticed my miles have changed to Km, & can't change this with my current lead & software, it only allows me to adj the odometer in Km.
I am getting quit fed up & am considering just purchasing the £259.00 ross tech interface, Will this allow me to have control over changing Km back to miles? & also change sync mirrors/locking features ect. one thing i would like to alter is the aux webasto heater to a higher temp than 5 degrees . Thanks to all in advance...

I thought the VAG-CAN Commander was a bit more powerful than VAG-COM. However the software is very difficult to use.

I think but don't quote me, you can change from miles to KM's via the dash display. Check your manual.

Side note, the CAN Commander or K+CAN Commander sold on ebay have so far all been illegal copies, the original manufacturer website can be found here and when looking at the price list you'll notice a slight difference to what you may have bought.

www.Abritus72.com

Regarding the not working diagnostic functions in the clone you seem to have bought, I tend to say that's a known issue with older versions of that software but it was never intended to do diagnostic related work. It is meant to change the mileage and do immobilizer work.

I have tried numerous times to reinstall the drivers for the 4.0 full version i have on my disc but it does not read the ecu's, only the 2.1 prima version from the disc.
Also i have heard that someone has purchased the hex-usb-can lead from talk to my car & the ross-tech software works fully so i would save £200 is it poss that a third party could have copied the registration software to make these third party leads work !!!

Yes it is possible to produce fake cables for the Ross Tech software and in fact some people do.

Sadly it takes away revenue from the software developers.

Buy purchasing a non genuine version you will not be able to take advantage of the excellent support offered by Ross-Tech and you might not be able to use newer releases of the software.

Thanks Skudmissile (Apo) accepted . I got so frustrated with this piece of S***E trying to get the drivers to communicate with the interface today, I had enough, put the interface in the vice & put it out of its misery .
At the time i purchased this from e-bay i thought it was a proffesional piece of kit, but since i have read posts on this site i now know i've been ripped off with counterfeit software, so thanks to you guys i will be ordering the complete package from Gendan this week ...THANKS

If you mean you will be ordering the VAG-COM package then might I suggest purchasing directly from Ross-Tech in the US. The current £/$ rate makes it the cheapest way to get one.

Just wondered if anyone has info on VW Touran steering settings & to auto lock when moving off, would not mind un-syncronizing my mirrors also!

There isn't really any need to email Andy simply purchase from the online shop at Ross-Tech.com.

Once you have your cable you will then be entitled to free support from Ross-Tech.

In the meantime you can review the options available to you on the Ross-Tech Wiki Main Page - Ross-Tech Wiki

Christopher, we usually try to reply to emails within 24 hours, but since Andy was out yesterday your email from "Mon, 4 Feb 2008 07:41:26 +0000" got forwarded to another member of our team who did reply to you on "Mon, 04 Feb 2008 11:42:28 -0500". Emailing persons directly is a bad idea and which is also why we have more general addresses that are received/monitored by multiple individuals.

Ross-Tech: Contact

So your email would have been more appropriately sent to Sales@Ross-Tech.com instead to Andy as he doesn't take care of sales related questions because he does (like me) primarily tech support.

One of your questions was payment related while the other one was about shipping costs, if you would have used the store on our website both would have been pointed out to you at the end of the order process, we also have a basic page which describes the available payment options but due to all the different countries there is no complete shipping costs table on the site as well.

Ross-Tech: VAG-COM Shipping & Payment Options

Here's the reply which you should have received from my colleague Santos.

Quote:
Hello,
We do accept paypal. Our web store will allow you to select paypal as a payment method at the time of checkout.

The shipping cost for the HEX-USB+CAN to your location is $37.25. Please note, that you will be responsible for all duties and taxes that are associated with the import of the goods.

Best Regards,
Santos Vega
Steering assist settings may be found in...

VAG-COM > Select > 44 - Steering Aid > Adaptation - 10 > Channel 001

...while the other requested settings can be found in...

VAG-COM > Select > 46 - Comfort System > Coding - 07 > Long Coding Assist

...so you should have fun playing then.
