If i bought VAG-COM could the program be downloaded and used on a PDA? Would be quite cool if you could tinker whilst on the move? Sorry if this is a stupid question but i'm new to this sort of thing

These guys were working on a PDA version of VAG Com. Quite how well it works I have no idea, but it seems to be the only option for PDA users at the mo.

It depends on your PDA.

You will need something like - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...741070081&rd=1

and probably a null modem too.

for those wanting to convert USB to serial - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...733124411&rd=1

Is the OBDII port just a serial port then? If I were to pop to my local Maplins could I purchase the usb converter to serial and then be ready to go with this

?

No. If you pull down the little glove box beside the steering wheel all the way so it unclips, you will see the OBD port. it is purple in colour.

The amount of data transferred means the usb-serial is not recommended.

Same question as Walkie really. If your "vag com" cable is serial connector, how to connect to the pda. Serial to usb/hotsynch cable?

I have the serial to hotsynch cable.

I have the PDA

I just need to get the VAG-Com Cable+software...am I right?

The site linked seems to suggest the null model adapter is not required, np if it have one in the loft or maplins if not.
