| As a relatively new fabia VRs owner it looks like a plumbers nightmare to me under the bonnet. Im more used to setting points gaps and playing with SU carbs. Can VAG COM actually DO anything? All the bumf says how it can read fault codes, give readouts etc which is all very well but my understanding of modern cars is that they are virtually untouchable in the engine department due to emissions controls etc. Can VAG COM be used to alter settings like the central locking, lights on etc or is it just a fantastic readout tool. I suppose it can be used to check the dealers not telling porkies but it seems an expensive way of reading info thats not really any practical use. Can it totally mess up settings if you start playing with it or is there a factory default which you can return to. Not knocking it, just want to know if its worth getting one while the car is still in warranty or not Thanks Brian |

| You can alter things like the central locking, and it is a great tool for checking faults, i am still learning my way around mine, as for whether it is worth buying if you are still under warranty, well i have. If you look on the Ross Tech site it tells you the uses.

| Vag com canlook at or alter the seetings of almost anything electrical on the car, from looking at the how far you have the accelerator pedal down (0-100%) to changing the cars ABS settings. To do more than basic settings you need to know what you are doing as you could seriously damage the car.

| Check out the VAG-COM FAQ in the articles section on here which tells you a few basic but useful things you can do. It also lets you collect real time stats from various sensors, but as far as I'm aware, won't let you change things like boost pressure, etc.... Chris
