VAG-COM Version 504.1

Has anyone with a Ross-Tech HEX or KEY series interface tried the new VAG-COM software release in the link below?

NB: Thread title and post updated to reflect that Beta 500.9 now replaced by new release 504.1.

I have given it a quick try and it is an improvement on Release 409.1. The label feature is particularly handy since, if you hover the mouse pointer over a Channel, it gives you a plain English description of options and codes. As an example, if you select the Recode - 07 button in Module 46 - Central Convenience, the label shows the car's coding for central locking plus alternative codes which could be set. In my case the code 00258 (don't take that number as gospel) indicated that the car was set for selective unlocking, ie driver's door only. A quick change of value to 00259 changed that to enable simultaneous unlocking of all 4 doors. Other options for beep/flash/autolocking are selectable via the Adaoptation - 10 button.

Got one

I got my cable monday from a guy in ireland £45 dual k line type, it certainly works with my 2001 occy with version 4 vag-com. cant get version 5 to work but that could be me as i havent had a lot of time this week "to play".

also got some interesting software from a "friend" that i wont be using called Gopel.

now another question "what else can i do?"now i have my cable

i have looked at setting up central locking to auto lock, but again havent had time to play yet...does the auto-unlock open all doors when engine switched off or when you go stationary for a period of time.

perhaps someone could start another thread of interesting things they have done with there cables/software. how they did it and on what car?

look in the FAQ area, there is already a list of some of the simpler things that can be done with vagcom

Auto-unlock unlocks all the doors when you remove the ignition key. Are you using a registered version of VAG-COM software or a shareware version with limited functionality? Release 504 only works with HEX or KEY interfaces (from Ross-Tech); it does not work with third-party interfaces.

For comparison, my HEX-USB+CAN interface cost £210.50 from Ross-Tech in the USA including shipping; VAT and FedEx's handling fee added £30.46 to that. Ordered Friday lunchtime and delivered Monday morning. The interface includes a dongle which gives full functionality to VAG-COM software installed on any laptop or PC. Interestingly, VAG-COM Release 504.0 includes generic OBD-2 functionality.

As does the dealer diagnostic machine. My local Skoda dealer diagnosed an emission fault on my friends Nissan for him.

The more VAG-COM codes the better.
