| Re: vag-com Sounds more like a s-contact fault, is it a Symphony head unit? |

| Briskodian | Re: vag-com what's s-contact fault, i've replaced the front panel from another radio that was in the vehicle previously, which had a working panel. |

| Briskodian | Re: vag-com display does not illuminate, when vehicle lights are switch on, and unit does not switch off when ignition key is removed. The original radio fitted to the vehicle when i bought it a month ago, would not play cd's, the skoda dealer said it was the wiring at fault in the boot, at the changer, this was checked by a local skoda dealer and no fault could be found, they then tried a new head unit to confirm their diagnosis. The selling dealer was contacted by them to confirm that a new head unit was required, they supplied me with a second hand unit from another vehicle, which does everything it's supposed to do apart from the two remaining faults, nether of which the original had, so I swapped the front panel over from the radio that illuminated, still no joy, after searching the forums i came across a thread about radio software and what could be done via vag-com, but if you know where the fault lies i would be very greatful for some advise ashow to repair it. regards kevin |

| Briskodian | Re: vag-com Turning off when the ignition key is removed is a setting within the head unit which is modifyable from the head unit. It doesnt need VAG-COM |

| Re: vag-com Just found the info, the radio soft coding needs to be set to 00403 which is the code for CD changer, ignition operation and panel illumination.

| Re: vag-com What about the fuse. The symptoms suggest to me that the switched live isnt being detected.

| Re: vag-com I had the exact same symptoms as did Dougal and in both cases it was the soft coding on the radio.
