| Hi all, apologies if this is a dumb question - anyone know if this lead: http://www.ecutool.com/516880106CAN.htm will work for on an 06 octy II VRS?? I know it suggests it will but rather than go head and waste $100 and find it doesn't I though I'd check here first! I'm after fiddling with some settings for daylight running lights and alarm settings etc and rather than visit the dealer just yet, I'd like to have a play myself! Thanks in advance R |

| Yes it will but you should be aware that it is an unauthorised copy of a RossTech cable so you will not receive any support.

| I believe these cables work just fine when fitting and programming Octavia 2 vRS cruise control which involves long coding of the steering column control unit/engine control unit.

| Sebastian. It would appear that our paths cross again. I and, I am sure others do, value your input however there is no need to be so negative nor forceful in your replies. I also understand your allegiance to UWE and his company and I think it's safe to say many of us rely heavily on the efforts of all concerned. If, as the advert states that is a CANBUS cable then it will work with the Octavia II regardless of whether it is supplied with the latest version of VAG-COM software or not. I did take the time to point out that it was an unauthorised cable and would not be supported by Ross-Tech and I agree that as it is effectively a pirate copy and that it may not have all of the functions of the later versions of VAG-COM software. I do not condone the use of illegal or counterfeit goods and thought I had made that reasonably clear in my reply. I think you well know that I have spoken to UWE already about these cables. Chill out mate – The world will be a much friendlier place. I would also urge any potential users of the VAG-COM software to take a look at the website operated by Sebastian, it is full of very useful information.

| Crikey guys! Looks like the Ross-tech equivelent is $349 - a bit outa my price bracket. Didn't realise this was conterfeit - I thought it was a cosha piece of kit with an older version of the software. Looks like they ship from China - so that might explain a few things!!! Think I'll visit the dealer afterall! R |

| The Chinese sell "Rolex" watches at big discounts too. Amazing how cheap they can sell something when they make a "copy" with no regard to quality -- or when it comes to high-tech goods, with essentially no development costs. So will a Chinese "Rolex" keep time? Probably, for a while anyway. But if you go swimming with it, it's likely to leak and rust... -Uwe- Last edited by Uwe@Ross-Tech; 27-05-2006 at 00:41. |
