SKODA FABIA FAULT CODE READER SCAN ENGINE SRS ABS on eBay, also, Skoda, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 09-Jul-08 11:11:13 BST).

I don't need it yet, just thought it may be useful to have.

i personally would just buy a vagcom from vag, so much more you can do, have a look at a microcan.

It depends on what model it is for.

if you only want a fault code reader then that would be fine.

If in the future you want to do a bit more and you own a Fabia, roomster, mk1 Octy and current superb than an ebay vagcom lead and a shareware copy of vag-com version 3.12 would be cheaper.
You can upgrade to a fully working version for $100

If you own a mk2 Octavia or looking to get either one of those or a new Superb then your best bet would be one of the leads that smstext has mentioned, as I'm not so sure if the basic code reader will work on them.

On a side note you buy the lead from Ross-tech, not VAG.

I have a similar one, and for reading fault codes, and for deleting these codes, restoring from limp mode and resetting the ecu light, they are well worth it, just to keep in the boot.

You do get a book with most of the codes listed, you also get accesss to a web site, where you can find all the fault codes, and what they mean.

They will obviously never be as good as Vag-Com or do the things that Vag-Com can do, and cannot be compared to it.

Ask Andyrew as to their worth, as he spends most of his time round my house getting his codes reset with mine......................LOL

For basics they are ok and reasonably priced. But avoid the ones that are made in China on Ebay.
