Default 1.2 70 bhp

Had many Skodas over the years ,favourits ,felicias and fabias but I must say that my new fabia 1.2 70 is only returning 36 mpg at the moment so Iam hoping that when it loosens up in a few thousend miles that this wil improve ,
Can Iask what other members think should be a reasonable return of MPG for this car. My dealer seems to think that at present this is quite acceptable even though the car is used to travel daily on A roads at about 50-55mph.

Hey I drive the Mk1 version which has 64bhp! The new one is just a minor remap to get a little extra pep. I can easily get 52mpg on motorway runs without a problem! Obviously with lots of town driving it can struggle to get in the mid 30s!!
But yes it should improve after the engine has bedded in properly, performance should improve as well, it did on mine - dramatically. I love this petrol engine, in my opinion it is the best petrol that Skoda do, along side the 2.0T-FSI in the vRS - obiviously for different reasons!!
Enjoy your car!

Sounds about right for a new car. Ours is now loosening up a bit and will top 50mpg on a run

Thumbs up Re: 1.2 70 bhp

Hi all
We got a mk1 64bhp version as a second car to help out our octy elegence tdi. We love the car for its torque and ease around the city but only getting mid 30's per gallon no matter how/where we drive. Its got 25k on a 05 plate oh, and its a combi.

Could it be possible the car could do with some tuning as I find it difficult to pull away at normal rev's as the car almost dies once the clutch is almost released.

I'd be grateful of any suggestions or info,
Many thanks!

If the 6BHP Gain in the Fabia II is purely because of a remap, then it should be possible to re-map the 64BHP one in the Fabia I, but I don't know of any companies who do this as they pretty much 95% concentrate on turbo'd models

I saw a Czech company advertising a remap on this engine quoted at 80-90BHP so it's obviously tuned to the lower end of it's potential as supplied.
