| Hi guys. After about 9 months of wanting an octy, i have changed my mind and am highly interested in buying a new fabia sport. But which engine? Diesel would obviously cost me more to buy, and would cost more in fuel and considering i only do 10k per year, would it be worth the extra dosh? 0-60 time and bhp and almost identical yet you get more torque with diesel, but then the petrol should be quieter. ARGGGHHHHHH!!! What do i do?? The only reason i ask is that i dont see many people on here with a 1.6, is that cos the 1.9TDi is better or because you chaps do a lot of mileage? Your comments please...

| For me it would be the diesel everytime, even if only driving 10k a year. It is a better engine period. The 1.6 is very uneconomical, needs to be thrased and is not as good as the diesel at holding motorway speeds! plus it emits a lot of CO2 and when the groups change next year you could be paying a lot of road tax!! Also, the 1.9TDi is one of the best engines ever made - extremely tough and allows for a lot of tuning potential!!! Mark |

Couldn't really say it was refined though, if I didn't have to have an automatic gearbox I would have the 1.9TDI over the 1.6 everytime based on monkey's above points (Excellent tuning potential for one), but the 1.6 does still have some merits, so if you are not going to do a lot of miles it could make a better option

| Skodayouth makes some valid points about the and I am probably biased in favour of diesels. But if Skoda did a 1.4 t-fsi for the Fabia I would consider that! |

Seat are using the 1.4 TFSI in the new Ibiza which is the same chassis, so hopefully Skoda will follow unless the VW group are firmly putting Skoda in their place in the "budget" section

it would make sense though if it used the 1.4TSI as with the Ibiza, because it's the same platform, but then who knows for sure yet

| I meant I hadn't even seen any hard evidence that the Ibiza will be released yet with the 1.4TfSI or TSI yet it is highly speculated!!! |

| Seat Dealer told me that the Ibiza is getting the TSI, Skoda dealers just shrug or guess at the moment as to the vRS

| Only way to know what a dealer's telling you is accurate is if they've already had it on their lot for 2 weeks... |
