| Only two weeks old and just over 600 miles from new, my Fabia Estate 1.4TDi has let me down. The engine just died to a tickover and the maxidot beeped and came up "ENGINE FAULT - WORKSHOP". I pulled over coasting, turned engine off and started it again and it was OK with no fault lights so I carried on. It did it again four times in 20 miles so I took it to my dealer. It could have been hazardous losing all power like that. They diagnosed a faulty throttle pedal assembly and replaced it there and then with one from another car. I am back on the road again and it has behaved OK for the 100 miles I covered today. I seem to remember reading of others having the same problem. Is this a weak component and can I expect it to go again? I didn't ask the dealer at the time. What fails on it I wonder? A faulty batch of components? ![]() TMT |

| Throttle pedal has a potentiometer in it - These are susceptible to breaking as in your case. Probably a faulty batch with it having happened so early on. ![]()

| I'm expecting to get my new Fabia estate in approximately four week's time. I just hope I don't have this problem as most of my route to work is on busy country lanes. It would be rather scary if I was on my own. At least dealers seem to be doing their utmost to get people back up and running. Jo |

As I was on leave this week I could get it over to them but it would normally have caused me a big problem. TMT

| I'd have a problem as I work over 20 miles from home where there's no public transport alternative. We do have a second car and my hubby's semi-retired after being made redundant/pensioned off 18 months ago, that would help, but when you pay out for a new car, it's not the sort of thing you want to happen. If it's something that could be a safety issue (and this could) maybe there will be an attempt to replace the part on cars fitted with sensors from that batch. Skoda has a good reputation for customer service and we're not talking of a huge number of cars compared to the likes of Ford or Vauxhall. We had a Vauxhall corsa that had a recurring problem with the off-side front brake binding. We never got to the bottom of it despite replacing just about every component including the master cylinder (GM paid half), brake hose, calipers and discs. We pay our money and take our chance. I do hope everything's sorted for you and your new car will give you many trouble-free miles. Jo |

The skoda assistances was first rate! They pick my car up from work and delivered me my rental. Can not fault them, again my worry is the replacement is from same batch. Luck this occured about 1/2 mile from work and by restarting the engine manage to make it to work. Which is 25 miles from dealer.

| It is bad that the new fabia's have had a number of owners that have been let down by the faulty throttle pedal. However, there aren't any other problems that have appeared in such a large scale, that's pretty good news for us fabia owners. Happy Days! |
