| Ive had my VRS about a month now and there is just one niggling fault..... my trip computer is completely inaccurate. 1st tank of fuel, average MPG on long term (not trip) recorded as 60mpg with the real figure being 46mpg - it wasnt me that filled the tank so could be some explanation. Second tank computer gives MPG as 55mpg (reset long term when tanked up) real is 45mpg. Its not my maths before anyone asks either! Has anyone else noticed that their computer is as inaccurate as mine? |

| My 05 vRS is not an inaccurate as that but still not perfect. I've done over 21,000 miles and have noticed that the average mpg consistently reads 2 - 3mpg over the actual. Seems to be getting more economical as the miles pile on though, but I don't know whether or not that's just me driving like an old woman or not.

Either mine is getting more economical as the miles pile on or I'm driving like an old woman too?! Hopefully its just the car... Mine has just hit 23,500 miles and recorded a personal best of 640miles from a tank. I can't fault that at all! | |

| Yes my 06 car is very poor as well - 53mpg trip = 45mpg actual. Pretty disappointing. I mentioned it to the dealer, but I don't think they even got to that point on the list of faults let alone reported it to Skoda. Seeing as though it's linked, the range is overly optimisitic as well - normally indicates about 550miles full and manages to lose 100 miles from the range in the last half a tank or so. |

| Well I suppose im glad that im not the only one, my range is also optimistic by about 100 miles. For that matter the fuel guage itself is pretty bad, the last indicated half of the tank goes very quickly. Happy with the car apart from that though, just on 1000 miles and I gave it full beans in third up to 4250 for the 1st time. My old mans 3.0 Honda Accord Coupe doesnt feel half as fast as it did! |

| On a side note I hate it when the car shows as 500 miles on the trip computer because you've been grannying it then you boot it for 10 minutes and suddenly you have 300 miles left. Whilst I understand it's trying to calculate how many miles you'll have left at your current driving it a) does seem to drop very very quickly b) never goes back up to anywhere near what it was when you start grannying it again.

| My 05 vRS is also not too bad. Cross checked against fill ups it's usually within 1-2 mpg at worst.

| I don't know it this helps, but if I understand it correctly you can fine-tune your computer using VAG-COM. Essentially, you adjust resistance of the fuel tank sensor ( that indicates the tank current capacity) as follows (courtesy of Sebastian@openobd.org): Controller adjustment STG 17 (combination instrument) select STG adjustment - > function 10 - > channel 30 (tank fuel sensor adjustment) The default value is 128, adjustable in 1 ohm steps (range 120 - 136). Once you have it just right, perhaps you could post the final value that you find correct for your particular car. I don't know if this adjusts sensitivity/accuracy or just when it signals the tank is completely full. I would try a post in the VAG-COM section, asking if Sebastian can suggest an better solution. Should be tweakable... Cheers Bas

| I've raised a thread about this before. My 06 fuel economy is pants but there was another contributing factor which has hopefully sorted this out now. It's still overally optimistic though, from fill up it says I should see 510miles. I think I get around 300 if I'm lucky. 45mpg is my average at the moment. I'm assured once the engine is run in things will get better.

I can get 350 to a tank in my CTR!! Granted the tank is 5 litres bigger than the vRS but mines a 197bhp petrol engine!! You must do a lot of short trips?..... I had an '06 vRS for a day long test drive, it had only done 1100miles iirc. When i picked it up I reset the computer and when i took it back i'd done 180miles and averaged 54mpg.... thats doing the same sort of driving as i do in my CTR in which i average 30-35mpg.

| My 06 VRS also has a very inaccurate trip computer - it is between 6 and 9 mpg out from the correct figure. When I fill up it says I've done 56-59mpg but the true figure is more like 50mpg. I'll mention it to Skoda when I take it in for its first service along with the other issues (stutter and creaking clucth pedal). Incidentally, I've covered 9100 miles and average 450 to a tank. | 300-350 miles is not that uncommon for me, and that is with motorway driving at some pace admittedly. I can hit much better figures if I stay below 70mph (and I mean below) or now I've got LPG fitted, easily do 400 miles/tank driving in a similar manner to 300-350 miles/tank before.

| I know I get 40mpg at least on my 06. Doing 90mph on the motorway makes the motor thirsty. Suprising when compared to a 1998 Astra 1.7TD I have access to which can get easy 47mpg doing the same speeds. ![]()

| Had my first proper long trip in my 06 Furby today, 280 miles round trip and I took it very easy all the way. Trip computer showed an average of 81mpg for the whole trip, that would have been very nice but I cant say that I was disapointed with 60mpg when I calculated it properly! Have a laugh at this ![]() |
