Re: 4wd fabia vrs

Not in this country. I only know of one done by a tuning place in Czech. using the gearbox and rear setup from a petrol 4motion.

It's something I'd like to try but I don't think it would be to my car. With enough fabrication and "skillz" in theory all the gubbins of the TT could be put into the fabia, including the quattro system.

Shame you've definitely decided to leave the mongrel with only two wheel drive, you still going to do the revolving number plate though?

Nah - no plate revolving!

The amount of money needed to 4wd the mongrel is so great, it would probably be easier to pick up a written off TT, and pick up a high miler 1.4 MPI / SDI and just do a big swap. (PS: Get the idea I've been thinking about it a little too much? )

Re: 4wd fabia vrs

You only need to look under a fabia to see how hard it would be to route a propshaft down it....

Use the tunnel that the exhaust lives in

Re: 4wd fabia vrs

Route it straight through the cabin on the left hand side of the gear stick - possibly use it to BBQ chicken as you drive along...Sorry! 8 hrs sleep in 72hrs Makes one a little (a lot?) strange.

Re: 4wd fabia vrs

i might just do that, it is between a 4wd or a rear wheel drive, just move the engine and box into back seat. but i have the tt and she was rolled so no damage done below, she is a 3.2 dsg gearbag, how ever can't do anything untill i hear from insurance, but gonna source another fabia, maybe an estate, keep the idea coming

Re: 4wd fabia vrs

Id probably go rwd, with a petrol engine. You could do what they do in the classic mini seen and rear mount a 200bhp hyabosa bike engine!
And use the bonnet as a boot.
you can do the mini if you can weld like i can for about £1500/£2000.

Re: 4wd fabia vrs

Yes its worth a go if you ask me!

I think if you put a 1.8 T in it too, that would be great.

Cage it and keep it fairly stock on the exterior FTW!

You can only do that "so" far though, then it becomes a bit of a metal hacking job to make it go straight after the stock exhaust route makes a sharp right to get up and over the rear beam.

Ar yes thats with the fabia rear beam..... If you were going to do a 4x4 surley you would use the TT rear beam

Only thing in the way would be the plastic fuelage tank, which could be replaced for a nice ally fuel cell

Can you tell I am also thinking 4x4 is a good plan for the fabia

Off the mark, YES - above about 80mph, NO, due to the petrol gearing used. I suspect it maxes out at about 110mph for that reason, but the car is an out and out drag car, not for any other purpose.
