Default Air Intake?

I had been reading up on the benefits of installing a pd160 air intake prior to a remap, and planned to buy one or wait on the awesome one.

However I had my car remapped on Tuesday kind of spur of the moment as it was meant to be in for just an oil and filter change. My question is, if I wanted to change it post remap would I have to go and get it checked again, or is this really only the case if its a custom and not generic remap?

Also if I am running the remap without any additional air will it cause any damage or side effects?

Cheers in advance for the advice

The air intake will just make is less smokey, as the fuel will burn better, giving you a tiny tiny performance gain. No harm if you don't have one at all.

Blimey! How many PD160 intake / remap queries are we going to have today!

In answer to your question, AIUI, a generic remap will be based on the standard intake, and so you probably won't need to worry too much. It'll help reduce the amount of smoke coming out of the exhaust like on a car with a tuning box or even a standard car (although a standard car shouldn't smoke too badly...) Had you had a custom remap, however, you'd probably not be getting quite as much performance as you could do had you put it on before the remap, but it's not as though it's going to make thing worse!

Going to get sanctimonious here, but seeing how your remap was 'spur of the moment', I hope you've declared it to your insurance company. I'd hate for anyone to have an accident and discover their insurance was void...
