It can be turned on or off using Vagcom or the dealer can do it.

Yeah, it can be turned off using Vag-Com. Who ever had the car previously will have turned the beep on using Vag-Com as it is silent as standard.... just flashes

Edit.... bugga... just beat me to it

Re: Alarm "Bleep"

I had mine turned on with VAG COM. It does my head in now. I'm going to retain one bleep for locking (Thats really handy) and delete the 2 bleeps for unlock

I have turned the beep on for when i lock the car. This means when I am walking away or if I am out of sight of the car (walking through the garden and can't see the lights) I can hear that the alarm has switched on

I have switched the beeps off when unlocking and I have also switched of the flashing lights! Just in case I drop me keys and someone tries their luck by pressing the button to find the car they belong to ....... stealth mode

AIUI these sorts of functions are disabled by default to meet the Thatcham requirements. Thatcham being more about not disturbing peoples' sleep these days than protecting their investments

Check out the VAG-COM guide on here - it tells you which block to look at and the coding options
