Brake-light switch

How many of you have had problems with the brake-light switch under the brake pedal? I just changed mine today after my EPC light came on. Apparently this is a common problem. I've had mine changed twice in the 2.5 years that I've had the car.

Sure, you think twice in 2.5 years ain't much, but then again, what other car regularly has a yearly problem with a brake-light switch?

Very annoying

The part number for the brake light switch if I remember correctly has been superceeded.
So the one that you had fitted could in fact be an old part number.
These are an issue with VAG but it always helps to voice your opinion to customer services.

had it done on mine, took a couple days to work out the problem as it kept draining my battery.

I had a brake light switch go on mine @ about 12K miles. Brake lights wouldn't turn off reliably, and cruise wouldn't engage. Fixed with a purple-coloured switch.

My problem was slightly different...the switch must have been broken, because the brake lights would NOT go on.
