Default Broken electric window :(

i wound the passenger window down 2 shout at some1, then as i tried 2 wind it back up with the 1 touch i heard a big thud inside the door. the window was stuck down. got home and took the pannel off, the motor works, its the metal wiring got 'chewed' up. managed to get the window up for now.

has this happened to anyone else? anyone know how to get the metal cover fully off, i have got the screws out but its still attached by some black things

Sound similiar to the problem Mcgyver had at the weekend in his Octy vRS, I dunno what sorted it. We didn't take it apart (too dark). Managed to close it by lifting it up and pressing the down button to get it to go up. It sounded like it may have been cable related.

I was just afraid of the window falling down and smashing.

Well my problem is related to the Window regulator . Quiet a few of these have failed especially on the Octi's. Mine is due to go in tomorrow morning for repair so here's hoping the issue will be resolved. I will keep you all posted

It will need a new window regulator. Very common fault do a few a week.

Its a tricky job if you havent done one before. Not really DIY i'd say unless you have a manual (which they dont do) or a guide (which I havent done as yet).

Best get it into a dealer.

You cant get the regulator on its own, it comes with the ancilleries carrier. Even if you could get it on its own you couldnt set it up so it works trust me I tried when trying to make a good one out of two in an emergency.
